After the Resurrection
Now what do we do
We have spent all this energy planning and celebrating
Just like the apostles
Now what
This teacher friend mentor who we have followed for 3 years
Was just murdered and now has come back to life
What in the world do we do with it
Church this is exactly where our church has been led this year
This is exactly what I believe has called us to do in our church life in our personal life
This morning we will look as the question now what
What do we do with the resurrection
1 But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had prepared. 2 And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3 but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4 While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men suddenly stood near them in dazzling clothing; 5 and as the women were terrified and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living One among the dead? 6 “He is not here, but He has risen. Remember how He spoke to you while He was still in Galilee, 7 saying that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.”
The Resurrection has happened
They are told that Jesus is not there
They are told that forever things will be different
They are told that the Son of Man has risen
Remember last week we celebrated the resurrecrtion and we focused on the 3 little words that have forever changed the world
HE IS RISEN
So the ladies what do they do with that
8 And they remembered His words, 9 and returned from the tomb and reported all these things to the eleven and to all the rest.
The remember what Jesus had told them
And then church they immediately they leave to tell the other people
The News that Jesus was alive and maybe added to the fact that Jesus Himself had said this would happen and that the picture is coming together
They immediately go and tell the others I see the entire picture now
The News that Jesus saves
The News that Jesus loves you
The News that Jesus is alive is so life changing you can’t help but share that with people
Church that is exactly what the girls did
And dare I say it but we should take that example and apply it to our lives
The resurrection of Jesus should be and is so life changing that we cant help but tell people about it
We can’t help but tell people what God is going in our lives
See these ladies have a relationship with Jesus and they had remembered the Words of Jesus and so the picture was clearer and they wanted to share that with others
Church we have the Word of God written down with and we can take it anywhere and everywhere
When you and I read the Word of God
When you and I are reminded of the Words of Jesus
And it should be noted when we read it we are reminded of what He says
That we go and tell someone about them
See church the resurrection changed how we go about life forever
19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Because of the resurrection we are called and commanded to go and tell others of what we have encountered with God
We are to go and teach others the Words of Jesus
We are to go and teach others what we have been reminded of what Jesus said
because the resurrection has show changed our lives
Church we are be doing the great commission
Teaching baptizing and disciplining them
That because of the resurrection our lives
Our wants and desires, our passions and our schedules have so changed because Jesus is now alive
Church because of the resurrection we are to be obedient to the Word of God
When we become obedient to Gods word because of the resurrection we are now doers of the Word
22 But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.
We prove we are doers of the Word by our actions
What do your actions say you believe about the resurrection
Do your actions reflect a life changed by the resurrection
church That is the question we must ask ourselves
Yes I know that sounds like a gut punch or that I am stepping on our toes
But that that is exactly where we are as a church
Enough of coming up with excuses or different programs
But rather church lets get to the heart of the matter
If our lives are not changed by the resurrection then we can recognize that and go about getting them changed
13 And behold, two of them were going that very day to a village named Emmaus, which was about seven miles from Jerusalem. 14 And they were talking with each other about all these things which had taken place. 15 While they were talking and discussing, Jesus Himself approached and began traveling with them. 16 But their eyes were prevented from recognizing Him.
29 But they urged Him, saying, “Stay with us, for it is getting toward evening, and the day is now nearly over.” So He went in to stay with them. 30 When He had reclined at the table with them, He took the bread and blessed it, and breaking it, He began giving it to them. 31 Then their eyes were opened and they recognized Him; and He vanished from their sight. 32 They said to one another, “Were not our hearts burning within us while He was speaking to us on the road, while He was explaining the Scriptures to us?” 33 And they got up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem, and found gathered together the eleven and those who were with them,
Church the resurrection had so changed these two that after they walked 7 miles and were preparing for a night in
They discovered it was Jesus and notice in vs 33

They got up and walked the 7 miles back to Jerusalem so they could tell others
They didn’t say hey that is something we can do in the morning
That is something I can do next time I am by that way
They didn’t check their their calendars to see if they had time to do that
They didn’t try and fit a relationship with Jesus into a calendar event
They didn’t do anything that was convent
Church they were putting action to their faith
Which is exactly what scripture calls us to do
The resurrection forever changes your life
Not just when it is convenient
Not just when you can fit it on the calendar
Church these disciples of Jesus were so changed by the risen savior
That they immediately got up and went and told some people about the risen Savior
Church we are past the immediate response to the resurrection that has come and gone
But now 2000 years later the same power still has an effect on our lives to forever be changed
8 but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.”
Church we are charged with going to the ends of the earth and being witnesses to what we have expeirenced with Jesus
That means we read our Bibles
that means we pray
That means we serve, give, we fast, we go, we share
Church we are to go and live our lives in such a way that they are different than before
Not different for different sake but different from the inside out
Different because we can’t be the same old person anymore
that is what is happening in the accounts of people who were changed because of the resurrection
They put action to their faith in Jesus
Their actions reflected a live forever changed by the resurrection
13 Now as they observed the confidence of Peter and John and understood that they were uneducated and untrained men, they were amazed, and began to recognize them as having been with Jesus. 14 And seeing the man who had been healed standing with them, they had nothing to say in reply. 15 But when they had ordered them to leave the Council, they began to confer with one another, 16 saying, “What shall we do with these men? For the fact that a noteworthy miracle has taken place through them is apparent to all who live in Jerusalem, and we cannot deny it. 17 “But so that it will not spread any further among the people, let us warn them to speak no longer to any man in this name.” 18 And when they had summoned them, they commanded them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus. 19 But Peter and John answered and said to them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to give heed to you rather than to God, you be the judge; 20 for we cannot stop speaking about what we have seen and heard.”
Peter and John
Were so changed the way they talked was noticed by the religious elite
They heard them talking and were taken aback and said they are talking like Jesus
When was the last time someone said that about how you talk
This is what we are talking about putting action to our faith
Not from the outside in because that is just behavior modification
If you want behavior modification you are in the wrong place
We are talking about a heart transplant
And because of that heart transplant you can’t go back to acting the same
Some of us have been Christians for a long time
Our hearts were changed a long time ago
Now it is time to start to let that seep through our rough exterior and live our lives reflective of that heart transplant
That is exactly what happened to Peter and John
It got to the point
They couldn’t help but be different
They couldn’t help but talk about Jesus
Church this is were we are being called to
This last section of TNT
We have been going over the Roman Road
How to share the Gospel
We gave them Bibles
Then for 2 weeks they got to come up and share and explain the different parts of the Roman Road
Before store night we had a pizza party for the TNT because they had brought those Bibles back each week
They were excited to share the different parts of the Roman Road in front of each other
We challenged them to take those Bibles to School
On the Bus or where ever and if the opportunity came up to share
Guess what church
Last week Gracie came and told us that on the bus she was able to share the Gospel
Church that is an example of being different
Church we are to be changed from the inside out because of the resurrection
14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; 15 nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 “Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
We are lights because of the resurrection
No one says I have this light I had better hide it
Church stop hiding your light
Stop trying to hide your light so you can fit in with a fallen world
But rather church
Becasue of the resurrection
Be obedient to the Word of God
And live your life in such a way that you have been forever changed by the resurrection of Jesus Christ
that people see you and Glorify God becasuse you are so changed
So to answer the question what do we do with the resurrection
We let it so effect our lives from the inside out that we are forever changed
that we talk different, that we think different, that we eat different, that we look different, that we spend our money different, that we are so effected by the resurrection
That we can’t help but go and tell people the Gospel Message
That Jesus loved them so much that He willingly went to the cross to pay their debt of sin
That their own sin separates them from Jesus
But Jesus they can cross that divide through a personal relationship with Jesus
By repenting of your sin and trusting in Jesus
Church we tell them that
Church we become doers of the word and start to put action to our faith
CLOSING
So church as we come to a time of response this morning
Maybe you are here and do not know Jesus
I would invite you to the front to speak with someone
They can answer your questions and show you through Scripture how you can be saved this morning through Jesus
Or maybe you have a relationship with Jesus but you are coasting or putting it on auto pilot
This morning it is a call to repent and run back to a right relationship with Jesus
Would you meet Jesus at the alter
Or maybe there is another decision of church membership you need to make this morning
The alter is open
