What is Prophetic Intercession?

Definition: Prophetic intercession is Spirit-led prayer that flows from divine revelation, allowing us to pray God’s heart and will over people, situations, and regions.

What does It involve

Hearing from God (prophetic)

Standing in the gap (intercession)

Where Is Prophetic Intercession Found in Scripture?

The concept & ministry of the priesthood

The New testament says that we the believer are a Royal Priesthood.

1 Peter 2:9 NKJV

But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;

Priesthood and Prophetic Roles in the Old Testament

The priest in the Old Testament context was a type of intercessor. Priests served as mediators between God and the people of Israel.

They performed sacrifices, offered prayers, and conducted rituals that were intended to atone for the sins of the people and maintain their relationship with God. Their role was to stand in the gap, representing the people before God and conveying God's instructions to the people.

We now have a new High Priest who is jesus Christ who made atonement with His blood in the heavenly temple once and for all eternity

And now we enter into that ministry of Priesthood with Him as he is making intercession for us.

Hebrews 7:25 NKJV

Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.

As the bible says to be imitators of God we join in that ministry of priesthood with Christ for the lost.

Where do we see this ministry of prophetic intercession come together in scripture?

We see this in the lives of Prophets like Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and Isaiah.

These prophets started out as priest or came from a priestly lineage

Now we as believers in Christ have come into a priestly lineage which originates with Jesus.

That priestly role of us being mediators, those that stand in the gap, has not changed.

Now we are empowered by the gifts of the Spirit to enrich our prayer lives as those who are standing in the gap for others

Ezekiel, Jeremiah, Isaiah, were prophets that even wrote scripture

This was because they were in-tuned and aligned with Gods heart for their generation and generations to come

This came through divine revelation and the prophetic gift

Now they had the office of a prophet which is a five-fold ministry gift

The New testament believer might not have that calling or office of a prophet but we have the ability to prophesy.

And that's where we can put to use the gift of prophetic intercession

This ability empowered by The Holy Spirit allows us to pray Gods will & His word over people, situations, families even regions & territories

This ministry of priesthood ties in both an intercessory role and a prophetic one as well

We are encouraged to prophesy as believers in Christ for the edification, that is the building up of His Church

1 Corinthians 14:1 NKJV

Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy.

Prophecy in the new testament consisted of hearing from God declaring His Word, not our emotions or will, but His word over a matter & speaking it under the unction and power of the Spirit.

The purposes of Prophesy is to encourage, build up, strengthen & even warn of impending judgement orchestrated by God.

It also helped Gods people move forward in the things of The Spirit whether in ministry or the needing of clarity, discernment and direction in life.

This is how we can use this gift as we make intercession and come into our role as a Royal Priesthood to declare Gods word in our prayers about any situation.

My prayer is that this unction come upon you.

That your prayer life may find this new dimension of power and glory

To bring heaven to earth, on earth as it is in heaven through your life, your ministry, & your family.

As we embrace our priesthood because of Jesus we now can enforce Gods word in the land through prophecy in whatever sphere of influence The Lord has called us too.
