The Bread of Life

Untitled Sermon

35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst. 36 But I said to you that you have seen me and yet do not believe. 37 All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out

38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me. 39 And this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up on the last day. 40 For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.”

Jesus, previous to this had feed The 5000. He didn’t release bread from Heaven. In the Old Testament, The children of Israel were wandering in the desert, grumbling-God gave them Manna, fed them from Heaven.
Jesus, took what the disciples had and multiplied it by giving thanks-Because that same presence was in Him. He is the bread of life.
vs 35 All that Come to Him will never Hunger or Thirst-

35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.

When we come to Jesus, all of our provision is taken care of. No more toiling, working hard for provision.

“Because you have listened to the voice of your wife

and have eaten of the tree

of which I commanded you,

‘You shall not eat of it,’

cursed is the ground because of you;

in pain you shall eat of it all the days of your life;

18  thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you;

and you shall eat the plants of the field.

19  By the sweat of your face

you shall eat bread,

till you return to the ground,

for out of it you were taken;

for you are dust,

and to dust you shall return.”

What bread was Adam to eat-cursed bread. The ground was cursed, therefore, all of his fruit, bread would be cursed.
-The Curse that Came upon Adam-Adam would work hard and produce little
-Even the fruit The ground would produce would be little-Thorns and Thistles
But Jesus, took that curse with Him, upon the Cross-He wore a crown of Thorns upon the sweat of His Brow

19 Then Pilate took Jesus and flogged him. 2 And the soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head and arrayed him in a purple robe.

A crown of pain. Jesus took it-
Separation from God and returning to the dust, death had a hold of humanity, was broken through Jesus suffering, death on the Cross and Resurrection.
It is finished! It is finished-
What?
The Restoration of Humanity To God

40 For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.”

I struggled with this in my own life. Trying to make my own Kingdom, looking for all the answers in the wrong places. I filled my life with sin, medicated with drugs and tried to do things myself. That produced sorrow, upon Sorrow.
Do you have Eternal Life? Have you accepted Christ? If not, I would like to pray with you when we finish.
Are you working for bread that perishes, by the Worlds standards? If so, accept Christ today as the Bread of life and never hunger.
That doesn’t mean you get everything you want, but everything you need is in Him.
Does it seem that everything you are producing is hard and you don’t get much from it? Jesus wore that crown of thorns to break the curse of poverty over your life!
Are you afraid of Death? Satan does not hold that Key!

19  By the sweat of your face

you shall eat bread,

till you return to the ground,

for out of it you were taken;

for you are dust,

and to dust you shall return.”

Jesus didn’t return to the Dust, we just celebrated the resurrection of Christ! His Tomb was empty...And he promises to those that believe that he would raise them up on the last day...

40 For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.”

What is the Good News-
Jesus is the bread of life-
We have forgiveness of Sins-
We have eternal life-
We don’t need to work hard to produce little-
We need to submit to Him and He will provide!
