Jesus Conquers Satan’s Systems

Text: Revelation 17

Introduction

When I am ready about these future promises that my King is going to fulfill, it brings me to the edge of my seat in amazement. I really think, when we are in Heaven watching Jesus purge the earth of wickedness, extend grace, defeat the devil, the antichrist, and the false prophet, we will be on the edge of our seats taking in His authority and majesty.

Chapter 17 Satan’s enslaving religious system will be crushed.

Chapter 18 Satan’s global economy will be dismantled.

Chapter 19 Satan’s grand military system will be destroyed.

What have we seen in summary thus far?

We have witnessed the glorious color scheme of God’s throne.

We have seen Old Testament saints gathered around the throne.

We have seen the saints of the church welcomed and celebrated.

We have witnessed the worthy Lamb taking the scroll and executing judgement on planet earth.

God partially remove His restraining hand and allow the world the become it’s darkest.

The gospel continues to be presented in different forms: the two witnesses, 144,000 thousand evangelists, a mighty angel, and many angels to declare a warning about taking the mark of the beast.

The martyrs are welcomed into Heaven.

Satan, the beast, and the false prophet have set up their kingdom and elevating that spirit of Babylon.

We heard the announcement of the end of the very end.

We also have witnessed the final work of God’s remaining wrath, to which He said, “It is done!”

Chapter 17 will take us back weeks possibly months in time.

We are going to witness in this chapter a GLORIOUS crushing all the systems Satan has established on planet earth; religious, economic, and military.

1) Who Is The Spiritual Harlot?

VERSES 1-3

This is a female prostitute figure which is global in scope.

Deeply political and religious.

Sits on many waters = many people, countries, and nations.

Spiritual fornication = a spiritual betrayal toward God.

Israel is referenced as God’s wife.

Church is referenced as the Bride of Christ.

The gospel is the only thing that saves any of us from falling in to the same spiritual fornicatioin.

She gone to bed with the presidential kings of the world.

She carries a cup fulled with abominations.

She has the title “mystery.”

She bears the identity with babylon.

She is dressed in purple and scarlet.

She is drunk on the blood of the saints.

She is seen as a great city that rules over all the kings of the earth.

Image a church that is very wealthy, and globally connected to political powers

Does this religious entity exist on planet earth?

Many have said it is the Roman Catholic Church.

While they do share many of these characteristics, what we have today is the elements of what will be created in this future day.

This future church will have the spirit of Babylon, will birth many other harlots who will commit abominations, and will pursue to cover the earth with the blood of the followers of Jesus.

There has been for centuries religious systems who would identify with this MO.

VERSES 5-6

You will begin to notice the formation of two cities: Babylon and God’s city.

We first learn of the actual city of Babylon in Genesis 10-11.

Nemrod is the grandson of Noah. A couple of generations following the flood. His name means “rebell.”

He rises up as a world leader in rebellion against God.

He instituted false religious.

He brings the people of the earth to build this great tower in efforts to reach Heaven.

Babel = confusion.

Nemrod built a system of confusing false religions and they then spread across the globe following God changing their language to cease the building of the tower.

Nimrod’s wife was worshiped as the queen of Heaven. They supposedly had a son by miraculous conception. The story says he was killed and miraculously came back to life. They began to be worshiped as a mother-son combination where the mother is elevated above the son as the queen of heaven. You might remember two names Ashtaroth (transgender deity) and Baal among many other names.

LISTEN…the heartbeat of the Babylonian culture is very much alive and well in the day of which we live! IT IS EVERYWHERE!

2) The Attempt Of The Harlot & Beast

VERSES 7-8

(v7) The angel asks John a question. John was standing there speechless and amazed.

The angel said, “follow me and I will tell you more about it.”

(v8) Who is carrying this harlot woman?

The antichrist and his ten kings of ten regions of the world who have come together to form this European coalition.

Seven heads = seven kings

(v8) All names have been written in the Book of Life, yet some have opted out through rejection of Jesus and therefore not written in the Lambs book of life.

“from” the foundation / “since” the foundation.

VERSES 9-11

(v9) The religious elite church will be dominating the rulers of that day.

(v10) Recounting Daniels vision and recounting the rising and falling of world empires.

Up until the time of John there had been 5 world empires and one in existence, one that is not yet, and then a final one.

Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Persia, Greece, Rome, 10 kingdoms of global rule, Satan shifts to dominate the 10 kingdoms through the antichrist.

VERSES 12-14

What you see here is a one world political/religious alliance that are allowed a short window to rise up against God.

(v14) THE LAMB WILL OVERCOME THEM!

(v14) the called, chosen, and faithful are all those who are His children.

Jesus is saying today, “Are you with me or against Me?”

3) The Victory Of The Lamb

VERSES 15-18

(v16) Satan will for a short time tolerate the religious and political powers and will at a certain time (through the beast) enter the temple and set himself up as God.

(V16) The political system will eventually devour the political system of the antichrist and becomes one forceable worship of the antichrist.

(v17) HERE IS GREAT HOPE! God is still sovereign over all things and kingdoms.

God has all prerogative to usher His sovereignty over the minds of rebellious, pagan, rejectors of His Lordship.

Conclusion

This is exactly why I as a pastor reject this modern religious ecumenical movement of today. I will never by in to the dumpster message of “We all believe the same thing” or “Every path leads to the same place.”

Not everything that calls itself Christian or a movement of God actually is.

The Spirit of Babylon is here today and growing rapidly. Sadly, many are entering this spiritual mess. Will you answer God’s call to help others see through the false messaging of the devil and see the truth of God?
