Are You Hungry?
Are You Hungry?
Are you hungry?
Are you hungry?
My mom cooks on Sundays for lunch. Often, the men are talking and the children playing while the ladies are preparing. When the call goes out that lunch is ready, often the men continue talking and the children continue playing. We have developed a saying at our gatherings, “You don’t have to call a hungry man twice!” If we are hungry, we don’t have to be compelled to come to the table.
What is hunger?
Hunger is an intense craving, longing, desire, passion or need. Hunger drives a man.
The person who labors, labors for himself, For his hungry mouth drives him on.
Are you hungry for God?
Are you hungry for God?
Natural hunger cravings teach us the need for spiritual cravings for God.
When we are sick, we lose our appetite for food. When we are spiritually sick, we lose our appetite for God.
Spiritual hunger is like a thermometer.

If we do not have a hunger for God, it is not because we are satisfied with God; it is because we are spiritually sick, or feasting at the table of the world, or worse, at the table of demons (1 Corinthians 10:21).
What things have stolen our hunger for God?
Blessed are those who hunger
Blessed are those who hunger
If we run long enough, you will get hungry and thirsty for God.
As the deer pants for the water brooks, So pants my soul for You, O God.
Have you been running without God?
Have you been running from God?
Are you getting hungry and thirsty for Him?
If you are hungry for God, you are in a blessed place.
Blessed are you who hunger now, for you shall be filled. Blessed are you who weep now, for you shall laugh.
Our Shepherd is preparing a table for the hungry.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over.
“Ho! Everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat. Yes, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.
Why do you spend money for what is not bread, and your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, and let your soul delight itself in abundance.
Spiritual hunger can only be satisfied through a saving relationship with Jesus Christ. He is the Bread of Life and the Water of Life.
And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.
Those who hunger will be filled.
