Hope during dark times.

Think of the darkest times of your life and also think about where hope may or may not have been.

Peter is writing to people who need reminded of hope.

The same is true of us today.

Hope because of WHO Jesus is!

I know this is review, but on Palm Sunday this is the point, He is the king of kings and true Messiah.

Hope because of what Jesus DID!

The resurrection proved his conquered death and so can live today in light of him being alive.

Hope because of what Jesus is DOING!

Last week we looked at because Jesus is active, alive and presently ministering on our behalf before God we have an anchor that keeps us still and moves us.

We have hope because of our FUTURE!

This is the point of our service this morning, and this message. This beautiful passage with verses 3-12 is one long sentence in the original language.

We need a new birth.

This is what Peter is talking about when it comes to salvation being a new birth and beginning. Jesus in John 3 talks about this when he said.
John 3:3 NIV
Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”
This means we must realize the way we are living presently is not enough, is not good enough, nor will it provide true life.

Our hope cannot be spoiled by the things of Earth.

Rust, sin, tarnish, decay, robbers and thieves, old age. the list can go on.

The Gospel should change everything!

But does it?

In order to have hope we must see our future.

This is not reading a horoscope, or the like. Stay away from those things they are not beneficial! Our future which rests on the unfailling love and mercy, the covenantal love of God, who has stated the truth of our hope—it can never perish, spoil or fade and HE is the keeping it.
