Boldly Proclaiming the Gospel

Bible Passage: Mt 28:18–20, Acts 1:8, 2 Corinthians 3:12, Hebrews 10:19, 1 John 5:14

Good Evening LFY! I’m excited to share with you guys tonight. You guys look a lot younger than you did last week! Hey I wanna share a quick story with you- [Story tying into message]
If you haven’t noticed there has been a huge spark of revival in this country. In schools, on college campuses, bruh American Idol aired a 3Hr worship service for Easter. They had a worship night at the white house during Holy Week. It is evident that God is calling the church out, and young people you are the church they’re calling out. Not just your grandma that drags you to church, not just your parents that pray for you, not just your teachers, but you. The students, the young people, your generation- gen-z is a generation marked by their love of God. And I’m saying all of this because this month we’re talking about sharing our faith, and sharing it bodly.
Last month we talked about the death and resurrection of Jesus and this month we’ll be talking about after he was raised from the dead he told his disciples to do this, lets open this together
Matthew 28:18–20 NIV
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
This is called the Great Commision and to better understand these few verse we’ll be breaking it down in sections. These verses are the central verse for evangelism which is the spreading of the Christian gospel by public preaching or personal witness.

BIG IDEA:

The Great Commission is not just a command—it’s our calling, identity, and response to the greatest love we’ve ever known.

1. We’re God’s Plan A—And There’s No Plan B

“Therefore go and make disciples…” (Matt. 28:18-19
Matthew 28:18–19 NIV
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
Let’s break it down and explain this, lets start with that line Jesus said. Way before he was going to be crucified he told his disicples this.
Matthew 11:27 NIV
“All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.
Jesus, the Son, has chosen to reveal the Father to His eleven disciples standing before Him. He will now give them the authority—and the responsibility—to represent Him and His salvation to the world. He gave to them, to you. The source of all power had been given to Jesus and he gave it to his disciples to us. And with that power he said “Therefore go and make disicples”
“Go… make disciples of all nations…”
This part is the part that gets us. Where we’re hesitant to share the good news. The great commission is the great commision, not the great suggestion, not the great recomendation. Jesus made to the disciples; it was a mandate. It was a command based off of the greatest commandment, which is love God and love thy neighbor as thyself. I believe we’ve been given the same mandate. I like to think of it this way: If you truly love God, then you truly love people; and if you truly love people, your heart’s desire is for them to know Jesus as their savior.
Jesus didn’t say “let the pastors do it.”, let the super holy people do it, he said Go. Sharing your faith isn’t optional—it’s part of the lifestyle of following Jesus.
Jesus didn’t just save us from something—He saved us for something.
God’s plan for the world includes you.
Why this matters: You don’t need to wait until you’re older to live for Jesus. You’re called now. The mission of sharing Jesus gives your life real, eternal meaning.
Romans 10:14 NIV
How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?
Why this matters: If we stay silent, some people may never hear the truth. That friend who sits next to you in class might be waiting for someone to care enough to speak up.

2. We Have the Greatest News the World Needs to Hear

Matthew 28:18–20 NIV
baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.
The gospel is the answer to every heart’s deepest need:
Forgiveness
Identity
Purpose
Hope beyond this life
📖 Romans 1:16“I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation…”
Challenge: We post about everything we love—sports, music, friends. Why not the One who saved us?
Why this matters: People are hurting, lost, and searching. The gospel isn’t just good news—it’s the only news that can save a soul.

3. We’re Not Alone—We’re Empowered

“And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Jesus didn’t just send us—He goes with us.
Boldness doesn’t come from personality—it comes from the Holy Spirit.
📖 Acts 1:8“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses…”
Real Talk: You might feel afraid. That’s normal. But God’s Spirit gives you the words, the courage, and the strength.
Why this matters: You don’t have to be perfect—you just have to be willing. God will do the rest.

What Will You Do With the Mission?

The Great Commission isn’t a suggestion—it’s a mission.
You’re either going or ignoring.
This world needs hope. You’ve got it. Will you share it?
🎯 Application:
Start with one: one friend, one convo, one act of love.
Pray for boldness.
Don’t wait until you’re “ready.” Go now.
2 Corinthians 5:20 NIV
We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.

Closing Challenge:

Are you living for yourself or the mission of Jesus?
Will you say “yes” to being part of God’s rescue plan?
Pray: “God, use me. Give me courage. Help me live boldly.”
Salvation ResponseI don’t know why you came to Youth today, but my guess is it has something to do with the fact that you are looking for a change in life. I am here to tell you that real life begins with Jesus. People tell me all the time; “ I’m not sure if I can keep up the Christian way of life. I tell them; and I struggle to keep up my workout routine, but that doesn’t stop me from trying. The truth of the matter is this, Jesus is not looking for your perfection, He is looking for your surrender. You know, and I know, that life in your own hands is not working. God tells us this:Romans 10:9 NIVIf you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. I share this verse with us because this verse reminds us that our salvation is not based upon our ability to perform for Jesus, but His willingness to save us. Today, I want to lead you in a simple prayer of surrender to Jesus. If you are here in this room and want to ask Jesus the be the Lord and Savior of your life, raise your hand right now. Let’s pray this out loud, church, repeat after me.“Heavenly Father, I trust You to save me through Your Son, Jesus.  Forgive me for all of my sins.  Make me brand new.  Because You died for me, I want to live for You.  Fill me with Your Spirit, so I could follow You.  Jesus, You’re now my Lord and the Savior of my life.  Take my life.  It is Yours.  In Jesus’ name, I pray.”
