Scripture Invitation:
Brothers, I direct your attention to the words of our Lord in Matthew 28:19-20, as we consider what it means to be "Men on Mission."
Bible Passage:
Matthew 28:19–20 CSB
Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Introduction:
Men of God, we've been commissioned! Not just called, but commissioned. There's a difference between being called and being commissioned. A calling identifies you, but a commission authorizes you. The Great Commission wasn't a suggestion - it was a divine mandate for kingdom advancement that begins right where we stand.
Men Commissioned in the Home
Brothers, our first mission field is within the walls of our own homes. "The man who walks with God always gets to his destination." Lead your household in prayer. Study the Word together. Love your wife as Christ loved the church. Train your children in righteousness. A man's greatest evangelistic opportunity is with those who see him every day. Your family should witness your faith before the world does. Let them see Jesus in how you love, forgive, serve, and lead with humility and strength.
Men Commissioned in the Workplace
On our jobs, we're called to be salt and light. The greatest tragedy in life is not death, but life without purpose." Your workplace isn't just where you earn a paycheck - it's holy ground where God has strategically placed you. Your integrity, excellence, and character speak volumes before you ever mention Jesus. Work as unto the Lord. Mentor others. Stand firm in your convictions. Your cubicle, your office, your worksite is your pulpit. Men, we are marketplace ministers!
Men Commissioned in the Community
Brothers, our communities need men of God to stand in the gap. Bishop T.D. Jakes reminds us, "You cannot fulfill your destiny while comfortable in your history." We must engage our neighborhoods, schools, and civic spaces. Volunteer. Mentor young men. Address injustice. Build bridges across divides. The community should know our church because they know our men. Every interaction is an opportunity to demonstrate the transformative power of the gospel.
Closing & Appeal:
As I close, remember that men on mission move with purpose and power. The Great Commission isn't just what we do—it's who we are.
So stand up, men of God, and be:
Bold in your home, where your leadership reflects Christ
Intentional on your job, where your work becomes worship
Transformative in your community, where your presence brings peace
Despite the challenges of our time, there is purpose in your mission
Despite the opposition, there is power in your witness
Despite the obstacles, there is progress in your steps
Despite the difficulty, there is provision for your journey
Despite the resistance, there is promise in your persistence
Men, you are commissioned! Not just churchmen, but Kingdom men! Not just Sunday servants, but everyday evangelists! Not just believers, but belongers to a brotherhood of impact!
The mission is mighty, but His presence is assured. Now, go forth and fulfill your divine commission!
