Pauls second missionary journey is off to a bang.
Acts 15:36b:“Let’s go back and visit the brothers and sisters in every town where we have preached the word of the Lord and see how they’re doing.
Acts 16 picks up after the great break up. The breakup was over who was riding. Mark yelled shotgun.
Paul Acts 16 first trip to “Some Jews came from Antioch and Iconium, and when they won over the crowds, they stoned Paul and dragged him out of the city, thinking he was dead.”
It seems that despite the trouble the gospel took root in Lystra:
In Lystra we find this dynamic duo mother and daughter who raised up a son in the faith.
Timithoy in his teens:
Timothy become a legendary disciple of Jesus.
Philippians 2:19–23 ESV
I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you soon, so that I too may be cheered by news of you. For I have no one like him, who will be genuinely concerned for your welfare. For they all seek their own interests, not those of Jesus Christ. But you know Timothy’s proven worth, how as a son with a father he has served with me in the gospel. I hope therefore to send him just as soon as I see how it will go with me,
How?

Good Orthodoxy
Orthodoxy refers to correct beliefs or doctrines
. The difference in Paul's actions towards Timothy suggests a pragmatic consideration of Timothy's mixed heritage and the likely reactions of the Jewish communities they would encounter
However, his uncircumcised state would have been a significant obstacle for ministry among Jews

Ministry is for People

Acts 16 The brothers and sisters at Lystra and Iconium spoke highly of him. 3 Paul wanted Timothy to go with him; so he took him and circumcised him because of the Jews who were in those places, since they all knew that his father was a Greek.
appears to be a strategic move made by Paul to enhance his ministry, particularly among Jewish populations
Pragmatism for Ministry
: Paul's action was not about Timothy's salvation or right standing with God, as Paul consistently taught that Gentiles did not need circumcision to be followers of Jesus
Paul is teaching here that we lean in for the weaker brother or sister when needed.
1 Corinthians 9:19–23 ESV
For though I am free from all, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win more of them. To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to win Jews. To those under the law I became as one under the law (though not being myself under the law) that I might win those under the law. To those outside the law I became as one outside the law (not being outside the law of God but under the law of Christ) that I might win those outside the law. To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some. I do it all for the sake of the gospel, that I may share with them in its blessings.
The righteous leans in to the mess.
The Good Samaritan
Luke 10:25
25 Then an expert in the law stood up to test him, saying, “Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”
26 “What is written in the law?” he asked him. “How do you read it?”
27 He answered, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,” and “your neighbor as yourself.”
28 “You’ve answered correctly,” he told him. “Do this and you will live.”
29 But wanting to justify himself, he asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”
30 Jesus took up the question and said, “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho and fell into the hands of robbers. They stripped him, beat him up, and fled, leaving him half dead. 31 A priest happened to be going down that road. When he saw him, he passed by on the other side. 32 In the same way, a Levite, when he arrived at the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. 33 But a Samaritan on his journey came up to him, and when he saw the man, he had compassion. 34 He went over to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on olive oil and wine. Then he put him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. 35 The next day he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said, ‘Take care of him. When I come back I’ll reimburse you for whatever extra you spend.’
36 Which of these three do you think proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of the robbers?”
37 “The one who showed mercy to him,” he said.
Then Jesus told him, “Go and do the same.”
Who is my neighbor was their question of the day. I can conveniently hide behind my so called religious exemptions
Just because someone treats you badly doesn’t give you the right to become them.
Orthodoxy refers to correct beliefs or doctrines,
Orthopraxy to right actions and practices, and
Orthopathy to right emotions and passions.
My neighbor is the one in need, the one I can see the one I can help.

“So he took him and circumcised him

. As one commentary notes, if Paul wished to maintain links with the synagogue, he could not be seen to countenance apostasy by having an uncircumcised man considered Jewish as a colleague
. Paul was acting out of love to avoid creating unnecessary barriers to the gospel among the Jewish people
Paul's Flexibility
: This incident highlights a degree of flexibility in Paul's approach. While firmly upholding the theological principle that circumcision was not a requirement for Gentile believers, he was willing to accommodate Jewish customs when it served the greater purpose of spreading the gospel
I wish I could be a brother like that
Dr brother gave him a car for a birthday gift.
Street Kid wish said i wish……..(the Dr. completed the sentence in his mind) he could be a brother like his brother that gifted him the car.
Gave him a ride
Asked him to stop for a second in front of his building .
Went in a found his crippled brother
Said there it is, one day I’m gonna buy you a car like this and take you to see all the things i keep telling you about.
