LDS Part II

The Mormon’s Road to Godhood
What do Mormons believe about creation, soul, spirit and elements?
The natural or earthly substances of which the earth in all its parts is composed and which make up the physical or temporal bodies of all created things are called elements.
The elements are eternal, the Lord says; and when they are organized into a mortal body, those elements become the tabernacle of the eternal spirit that comes from pre-existence.
Biblical Answer
Genesis 1:1 ESV
1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
Genesis 1:2 ESV
2 The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
Matthew 24:35 ESV
35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.
Revelation 21:1 ESV
1 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more.
1 Corinthians 15:44 ESV
44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.
2. Is there a “mother God”?
The Bible, the Book of Mormon, and Doctrines & Covenants do not speak of a mother in heaven, but common sense tells us we must have had a mother there also.
Biblical Response
Genesis 1:26–27 ESV
26 Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
3. Did Lucifer desire to be the Savior & was he the brother of Jesus?
Mormon’s believe “one of the other sons of God” contested Jesus as Savior.
“Haughty, ambitious, and covetous of powers and glory, this spirit-brother of Jesus desperately tried to become the Savior of mankind.”
Biblical Answer:
The name “Lucifer” is only found in the KJV as a transliteration of the Latin.
The Latin transliterates the Hebrew as this as though it is a proper name, but it is a description, not a name.
Matthew 4:1 ESV
1 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.
Matthew 4:5 ESV
5 Then the devil took him to the holy city and set him on the pinnacle of the temple
