Introduction

The Old Testament contains principles that are applicable to the new covenant people of God.
Hebrews 4:12 teaches us that the Word of God [the law] is:
alive- living, active
powerful-effective (productive, capable of producing its intended results
soul- the psychological faculties
spirit- the inner being, way of thinking
The law of God is good (Romans 7:7-12).
Knowledge leads to a change in values and convictions, which leads to a change in behavior, which leads to a disciplined life.
The two most important ways to live a blessed life is by learning the Word and doing the Word.
James 1:22–25 KJV 1900
22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. 23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: 24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. 25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

Principles for Reading the Bible:

Seek the literal and spiritual meaning of a Scripture
Seek the revelation of God’s character and His dealing with mankind/ creation
Seek the principle of Scripture.
