How this passage could point to Christ: Jesus, as the Good Shepherd, is a fulfillment of the Old Testament imagery of God caring for His people. “Bummer Lambs” are baby sheep that are rejected by their mothers. (Story about volcano) are the ones who take care of the “rejected lambs” they feed them, keep them warm, but most of these do not just die from starvation but they die from “loneliness”. So the Shepards hold them close to their chest and speak to them. Then when they are big enough to be put in the pack the Shepard releases them.
