Intro:
Hey Guys, Tez here and welcome to our first Bible study in our unveil community. Im excited because I know great things are happen and transformation is going to take place.
overview of series: Unseen Gifts
I believe this one of the areas where believers are lost and misguided due to frustrations of discovering their gift, discerning the purpose and designating the right place for it. So I want this series to help not help us not only unveil who we are, but understand God’s intention for his gifted people.

Scripture

1 Sam 16
11 So he asked Jesse, “Are these all the sons you have?”
“There is still the youngest,” Jesse answered. “He is tending the sheep.”
Samuel said, “Send for him; we will not sit down until he arrives.”
12  So he sent for him and had him brought in. He was glowing with health and had a fine appearance and handsome features.
Then the Lord said, “Rise and anoint him; this is the one.”

Title: This the One

Thought, Quote, Axiom -
This the one is a popular cultural expression used to note that something or someone is the best, most ideal, or most impactful choice in a given moment. It's often said with confidence or excitement, especially when something stands out as exactly right or undeniably special. It’s a term for validation—especially emotional or cultural validation.
It’s to give ones opinion with a signature stamp of approval that says, Yes!
I think we all can attest to this moment. Whether its when your favorite song plays in your playlist, or a certain outfit that seemed to surprise you actually woks, or even trying out a new restaurant, We’ve all had an unexpected moment of approval while simultaneously thinking This the one.
But here’s the tension: Why is it easy to confidently believe “this the one” about a song, a meal, or aesthetic… …but finds difficultly believing God says it about you?
What have you heard, seen, or witnessed that causes you to accept and say I’M Not THE ONE

Scripture Background

Samuel is weeping over Saul because God has rejected him. God says to Samuel “how long will you morn for Saul??

We want God to work our way. Just because it doesn’t work our way doesn’t mean it wont work at all
Marry the mission and date the method (Marry why, not how)

Fill your horn. I am sending you to Jesse House. I have chosen one of his sons to be king.”

God makes unseen decisions
I’ve got some good news and some bad news. The bad news. God talks about you behind your back. The good news. Every word He’s spoken is designed to bless your future. So I think it’s time to confront Him — not with fear, but with faith. Because what He’s saying about you… is what He wants to do through you.
When a believer begins to listen with faith, they stop obsessing over just hearing God's voice... and start longing to know God's heart. And the truth is — you can’t hear His heart until you have it. Because God doesn’t whisper His heart to strangers. He reveals it to those who carry it. Gods Gifts are reveled by his heart.

2. The space between chosen and claimed

David had already been chosen by God. He has been selected spiritually, but lacked the confirmation physically. Whenever there is a spiritual selection theres always a public affirmation that follows.

The call, The chosen, The claim (Mathew 22)

v14 For many are called, few are chosen
Tell parable
Called- callings are strategic divine invitations into something and someone
Chosen - individuals who accept that call. As long as you accept the call, you’ll remain chosen
Confirmed - A public affirmation God uses to expressing the beginning of his claim and agreement for you to function in the his call
Claimed is relational and conditional — it must be continually honored and proven through obedience. Lucifer was chosen, but no longer claimed. Saul was chosen, but no longer claimed.
Samuel Gets to jesses house and goes through the process with all the other brothers and the bible says

11 So he asked Jesse, “Are these all the sons you have?”

“There is still the youngest,” Jesse answered. “He is tending the sheep.”

Samuel said, “Send for him; we will not sit down until he arrives.”

In many seasons, we question the silence of God. Not because we’ve been disobedient, but because we’ve been faithful — and still feel forgotten.
And in that silence, we often drift. Some drift into rejection — thinking God has passed them over. Others drift into assumption — trying to fill in the blanks themselves. And some slip into subtle disobedience — not because they’re rebellious, but because silence is brings pressure, and waiting is difficult.
But I want to make what’s called an exegetical proposition — which is a clear, concise theological idea based on the interpretation of this text:
Like Samuel, many of us will experience God’s sovereign silence even while we are walking in full submission.
Samuel followed the instructions down to the detail. He filled his horn with oil — as commanded. He went to Jesse’s house — just like God told him. He is prepared to anoint the next king —
But somewhere in the middle of the task… God stopped talking.
The voice that sent him went quiet. And Samuel had to stand in a room full of options, without clear confirmation.

Here it is:

What do you do when submission leads to silence? When you’re in the right place, doing the right thing — and God offers no new words?

Samuel is standing in a silent space of his purpose, but he isn’t progressing and God isn’t telling him how to.
And the only way he unlocks the next chapter, wasn’t by another
Prayer
Spiritual Fast
Spiritual discipline
His progression was depended upon how well he could question.
What if the your next move isn’t hidden behind a ‘yes,’ but behind a better question?
The reality is obedience is not the most important thing when attempting to live a God-led life. What I’ve found to be more important than just obedience is curiosity. Because obedience doesn’t always require faith, but curiosity does.
Davids public display of anointing depended upon the Samuels curiosity.
And if you’re going to discover and marry what God says about you, you’ll have to become more intentional about discerning what God intends for you.

12  So he sent for him and had him brought in. He was glowing with health and had a fine appearance and handsome features. Then the Lord said, “Rise and anoint him; this is the one.”

YOU ARE THE ONE
God’s business with humanity begins with his validation.
The absence of validation creates space for misuse.
(If i don’t know who I am, I’m going to abuse who I am)
Validation is just acceptance, and when you don’t feel accepted you assume rejection.
(automaticity - without conscious resource theres an assumed response)
God doesn’t anoint your for confirmation, he anoints you for confidence. One of the biggest signs of anointing is lack of self-awareness.
The beginning to seeing an unseen gift is acknowledging that there is one.
