Galatians 2:20 (NKJV)
20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
Introduction Story:
When you came to saving faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. You no longer have two natures. I will be honest, I used to teach that there are two natures inside of us. The sinful nature and the nature from God. “What you feed…” ———— Leads to a works based mindset, you are the one in control..
You have a new nature! (Tell the person next to you)
Quick background of Galatians.. Paul’s frustration, Galatians going back to the law, but that was your old nature, your new nature is no longer subject to the law. It is slavery.
MAY THE HOLY SPIRIT USE THIS MESSAGE TO SET YOU FREE TODAY!
Today’s lessons:
The Real You is not the Old You.
The Real You is About Christ in You.
The Real You is Centered in Christ.

I. The Real You is not the Old You

“I have been crucified with Christ…” (Galatians 2:20a)
Key Point: The Old man has already been crucified with Christ.
Romans 6:6 NKJV
6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.
The old man is gone, he has died! People struggle to change their ways and their mindset. But it is not about changing ourselves, the truth is that THE OLD MAN - WITH HIS WAYS AND HIS MINDSET IS ALREADY DEAD, Crucified on the cross.
You have traded your old life for His.
Illustration: Like trading in an old, broken-down car for a brand-new one—a TESLA.
Application: Let go of the old performance-based mindset; recognize that you died with Christ.

II. The Real You is About Christ in You

“… it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me…” (Galatians 2:20b)
Key Point: Jesus doesn’t just help us live; He lives His life in us.
CHRIST IN YOU!
Supporting Scripture: Colossians 1:27 – “Christ in you, the hope of glory.”
Colossians 1:27 NKJV
27 To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
Quote from Chapter 8: “The gospel is not about you becoming strong; it’s about you dying so Christ can be your strength.”
WWJD - Nothing wrong, following His word — if it is reduced to a mere ethical framework that we base our every action on.. The Lord Jesus lives in us through His Spirit.
“Through His Spirit Who lives in you” (Romans 8:11b)
Application: Daily recognize and rest in Christ’s presence within. Your adequacy comes from Him.

III. The Real you is Centered in Christ

Key Point: Our new life operates by trusting the indwelling Christ moment by moment and He is now the center.
“…and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” (Glalatians 2:20c)
One important thing about dying with Christ is that you are no longer the center of reference. If you are still the center of reference, you will still work hard to correct you, become the better you, change you, make something out of you.
Illustration: The branch doesn’t struggle to bear fruit—it simply abides in the vine (John 15:5).
John 15:5 NKJV
5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
Application: Faith is not trying harder, but trusting deeper. Step into every day as a vessel for His life.
Supporting Scripture: 2 Corinthians 5:7 – “We live by faith, not by sight.”
2 Corinthians 5:7 NKJV
7 For we walk by faith, not by sight.

Movie to be shown here. About a man who lost his identity, but God used a special friend to remind him that he should hope in Christ.

Christ is Our Identity and Source

Key Point: We are not defined by our past, our failures, or even our strengths—but by Christ in us.
Supporting Scripture: Colossians 3:3–4 – “For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.”
Colossians 3:3–4 NKJV
3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.
Quote from Dan Stone: “God doesn’t want to improve you—He wants to replace you.”
Application: Learn to say with Paul, “Not I, but Christ.”
Call to Action:
Stop striving.
Repent from self-effort.
Let Jesus live through you.
You don’t just live for Jesus, He lives His life through You.
2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
