Election: An act of God before creation in which he chooses some people to be saved, not on account of any foreseen merit in them, but only because of his sovereign good pleasure. (32)[4]
Gospel call: The general gospel invitation to all people that comes through human proclamation of the gospel. Also referred to as “external calling.” (33A)[5]

Greek Definitions

Gospel (BDAG)
εὐαγγέλιον, ου, τό (s. prec.entry; Hom. et al.; LXX, TestSolD 1:13; ApcSed 14:9; Joseph., Just., Mel.) [1]
①    God’s good news to humans, good news as proclamation[2]
Gospel (LOUW)
33.217 εὐαγγέλιον, ου n: (derivative of εὐαγγελίζω ‘to tell the good news,’ 33.215) the content of good news (in the NT a reference to the gospel about Jesus)—‘the good news, the gospel.’ οὐ γὰρ ἐπαισχύνομαι τὸ εὐαγγέλιον ‘for I am not ashamed of the gospel’ Ro 1:16. In a number of languages the expression ‘the gospel’ or ‘the good news’ must be rendered by a phrase, for example, ‘news that makes one happy’ or ‘information that causes one joy’ or ‘words that bring smiles’ or ‘a message that causes the heart to be sweet.’[1]
Repent (BDAG)
μετανοέω fut. μετανοήσω; 1 aor. μετενόησα (ἐμετενόησαν w. double augment ApcEsdr2:24) (s. next entry; Antiphon+)
change one’s mind Hv 3, 7, 3; m 11:4 (cp.Diod S15, 47, 3 μετενόησεν ὁ δῆμος; 17, 5, 1; Epict. 2, 22, 35; Appian, Hann. 35 §151, Mithrid. 58 §238; Stob., Ecl. II 113, 5ff W.; PSI495, 9 [258 b.c.]; Jos., Vi. 110; 262), then
feel remorse, repent, be converted[8]
Repent (LOUW)
41.52μετανοέω; μετάνοια, ας f: to change one’s way of life as the result of a complete change of thought and attitude with regard to sin and righteousness—‘to repent, to change one’s way, repentance.[9]
μετανοέω: ἐξελθόντες ἐκήρυξαν ἵνα μετανοῶσιν ‘they went out and preached that the people should repent’ Mk 6:12.
μετάνοια: ἀγνοῶν ὅτι τὸ χρηστὸν τοῦ θεοῦ εἰς μετάνοιάν σε ἄγει; ‘do you fail to understand that God is kind because he wants to lead you to repent?’ Ro 2:4.[10]
Repentance (BDAG)
μετάνοια, ας, ἡ (μετανοέω) [11] repentance, turning about, conversion; [12]
Repentance (LOUW)
41.52 μετανοέω; μετάνοια, ας f: to change one’s way of life as the result of a complete change of thought and attitude with regard to sin and righteousness—‘to repent, to change one’s way, repentance.’[13]
μετανοέω: ἐξελθόντες ἐκήρυξαν ἵνα μετανοῶσιν ‘they went out and preached that the people should repent’ Mk 6:12.
μετάνοια: ἀγνοῶν ὅτι τὸ χρηστὸν τοῦ θεοῦ εἰς μετάνοιάν σε ἄγει; ‘do you fail to understand that God is kind because he wants to lead you to repent?’ Ro 2:4.[14]
Though in English a focal component of repent is the sorrow or contrition that a person experiences because of sin, the emphasis in μετανοέω and μετάνοια seems to be more specifically the total change, both in thought and behavior, with respect to how one should both think and act. Whether the focus is upon attitude or behavior varies somewhat in different contexts. Compare, for example, Lk 3:8, He 6:1, and Ac 26:20.[15]
Believe (BDAG)
πιστεύω (Trag.+)
to entrust oneself to an entity in complete confidence, believe (in), trust, w. implication of total commitment to the one who is trusted. [19]
Believe (LOUW)
31.85 πιστεύωb; πίστιςb, εως f: to believe to the extent of complete trust and reliance—‘to believe in, to have confidence in, to have faith in, to trust, faith, trust.
πιστεύωb: ὃς δ’ ἂν σκανδαλίσῃ ἕνα τῶν μικρῶν τούτων τῶν πιστευόντων εἰς ἐμέ ‘if anyone should cause one of these little ones to turn away from his faith in me’ Mt 18:6; ἐπίστευσεν δὲ Ἀβραὰμ τῷ θεῷ ‘Abraham trusted in God’ Ro 4:3; ὁ πιστεύων ἐπ’ αὐτῷ οὐ μὴ καταισχυνθῇ ‘whoever believes in him will not be disappointed’ 1 Pe 2:6.
πίστιςb: ἔχετε πίστιν θεοῦ ‘you have faith in God’ Mk 11:22; ἤκουσεν αὐτοῦ περὶ τῆς εἰς Χριστὸν Ἰησοῦν πίστεως ‘he listened to him (as he talked) about faith in Christ Jesus’ Ac 24:24; ὁ δὲ δίκαιος ἐκ πίστεως ζήσεται ‘he who is righteous because of his faith shall live’ Ro 1:17; ἀκούσαντες τὴν πίστιν ὑμῶν ἐν Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ ‘we heard about your faith in Christ Jesus’ Col 1:4.
In rendering πιστεύωb and πίστιςb it would be wrong to select a term which would mean merely ‘reliance’ or ‘dependency’ or even ‘confidence,’for there should also be a significant measure of ‘belief,’ since real trust, confidence, and reliance can only be placed in someone who is believed to have the qualities attributed to such a person.[20]

J. C. Ryle’s Insight On Repentance

Repentance is a thorough change of a person’s natural heart regarding the subject of sin.
True repentance begins with knowledge of sin.
True repentance produces sorrow for sin.
True repentance produces confession of sin.
True repentance leads to a thorough breaking off from sin.
True repentance shows itself by producing in the heart an established habit of deep hatred of all sin.
True repentance, such as that which I have just described, is never alone in the heart of anyone. It always has a companion – a blessed companion. It is always accompanied by active faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Wherever faith is, there is repentance. Wherever repentance is, there is always faith. I do not decide which comes first – whether repentance comes before faith, or faith before repentance – but I am certain enough to say that the two graces are never found separate, one from the other. Just as you cannot have the sun without light, ice without cold, fire without heat, or water without moisture, so you will never find true faith without true repentance, and you will never find true repentance without active faith. The two things will always go side by side.

26 Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you are seeking me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate your fill of the loaves.
27 Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For on him God the Father has set his seal.”
28 Then they said to him, “What must we do, to be doing the works of God?”

24 I told you that you would die in your sins, for unless you believe that I am he you will die in your sins.” [64]

Conclusion

God allows us to see our state—which means we see ourselves the way God has communicated through the Holy Scriptures. The scriptures tell us that we have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God. It tells us that there is none righteous no not one. There is none that understands, there is none that seeks after God. It tells us that we must pay a wage for our sins and that wage is death. This death entails a physical death, then after that physical death, we are sent to a place call hell or hades depending on what translation of the Bible that you are reading from. Then—at the end of the age—the end of the world as we know it to be—we will stand before the white throne of judgement. At this white throne of judgement—books are open and we are judged according to what we have done while living on this earth—both the good and the bad. Then the Book of Life is open, to determine if we are written in it. If we are not found written in the book of life, we are then cast into the Lake of Fire which was prepared for the devil and the fallen angels. This Lake of Fire is also called the second death. This is the final destination for all of humanity. But there is Good News. That Good News is that God the Father, has sent us a Savior, this Savior, is the Messiah that the Jewish nation sought after but missed His visitation, His name is Jesus Christ. He is the Anointed One of God. The scriptures tell us that God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten, one of its kind, unique Son, Jesus Christ and that whoever believes in Jesus Christ should not perish but have eternal life. The scriptures tells us that there is only one way to the Father and that way is Jesus Christ. In order to enter the kingdom of God we must come God’s way and His way is through repentance towards God and faith in His Son Jesus Christ.
If God does not draw us we cannot come to Jesus Christ. If Jesus Christ does not reveal the Father to us—we cannot know Him. By default we are all children of wrath and if we do not come to God through repentance and faith in His Son, Jesus Christ, we will never enter the kingdom of God. We must be born from above. Faith comes by hearing and hearing through the word of God. God opens our eyes so that we can see our current state void of his saving power. An example of this is Lydia, in Acts 16:13-15.
[Acts 16:13-15 ESV] | p. 1036
13 And on the Sabbath day we went outside the gate to the riverside, where we supposed there was a place of prayer, and we sat down and spoke to the women who had come together. 14 One who heard us was a woman named Lydia, from the city of Thyatira, a seller of purple goods, who was a worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to pay attention to what was said by Paul. 15 And after she was baptized, and her household as well, she urged us, saying, “If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come to my house and stay.” And she prevailed upon us. [65]
Once our eyes are open, we must repent and turn to God and believe in the Gospel!
[Romans 1:16 ESV] | p. 1051
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
Saving faith: Trust in Jesus Christ as a living person for forgiveness of sins and for eternal life with God. (35A.3)[18]
100 years from now most people hearing my voice will have physically died. All that will matter then is what choice did we make.
Believe and Receive, or
Deny and Reject
