Intro:

Hello, I’m Neo!
I’m Brown now!
This is what happens when I spend more than 20 mins in the sun. lol
When I first heard the Lord put in my heart I’d be preaching in life… I told Him, “Lord, I would never seek it but I’ll always say yes.”
Now before you start thinking I’m a super Christian, I did not think he would actually make it happen.
Let’s Pray:
I originally was going to preach on the idea that the Kingdom is a Kingdom of Children.
How we were supposed to dream and do what the Father does and say what He says.
It was great! A real tear jerker lol but the Lord changed it on me.
I found myself stuck and I couldn’t figure out how to make everything work.
I got frustrated and just threw on some worship and began to pray.

The Burning Ones

Story: Since I was saved I’ve been on fire. A bunch of young guys used to get into a room and turn off all the lights and worship and pray till 3 am.
One day one of the elder people at my church said something that stuck with me.
“Enjoy it while it lasts, because it fades…”
I remember asking that He would never let that happen.
Although I’ve had moments of not being faithful He has always been faithful.
To Explain this idea of the “Burning Ones” Let me get into some scripture.
Leviticus 6:12 ESV
The fire on the altar shall be kept burning on it; it shall not go out. The priest shall burn wood on it every morning, and he shall arrange the burnt offering on it and shall burn on it the fat of the peace offerings.
1 Peter 2:5 ESV
you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 3:16 ESV
Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?
The idea is that we are all priest in charge of a flame.
1 Peter 2:5 and 1 Corinthians 3:16 are to make clear that we are the new temples.
The fire we tend to is in our heart.
Leviticus 6:12 will be our anchor verse here.
I believe if we go back to Leviticus 6:12 we can see how to keep our fire burning.
This has been God’s heart ever since Exodus 19:6
Exodus 19:6 “and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words that you shall speak to the people of Israel.””
So here in Leviticus you have a few things mentioned here.
The Wood
The Burnt Offering and the Fat of the Peace Offering
The Fire

The Wood

John 4:20-24
The woman at the well first is talking about a physical place to worship.
Jesus then turns it around
He says it’s no longer a physical place and is alluding to the time when we will become the temples of worship.
Spirit and Truth. Worship is the over arching act.
I believe we worship in Truth in…
Worship/Prayer and The Word of God.
Worship and prayer seem to be separate but really they are the same.
They are both meant to be a dialogue.
We often can see worship that God is a spectator but the more I learn, I realize it is still a back and forth.
Our Truth comes from the Words that the Lord has spoken and speaks.
Our Truth comes from our communication with God. (Through Prayer and “Worship”)
Our Truth comes from His Unchangeable Holy Word. (The Holy Bible)
Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”
“God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”
I feel these are pivotal to keeping a flame going. You cannot have a fire burning for long without fresh wood.

The Burnt Offering and the Fat of the Peace Offering

Romans 12:1-2
Obedience and the way we live our lives is the Burnt offering and Fat of the peace offering.
We no longer have to lay animals down on the fire at the altar because now we lay ourselves down into the fire.
This is our Spiritual worship.
Ephesians 5:1–2 “Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”
Marks of the True Christian
Romans 12: 9 - 21
Do not take this as a rebuke or a place of shame.
This is not a message of a rebuke but rather an invitation.
You see Paul was describing you. Me. In Christ Jesus this is who we are.
With the Holy Spirit in our bones we can live a life with a burning Zeal.
We were always created to be the “The Burning Ones”.
I don’t know if you have seen fat burn on a grill but the fire goes crazy!
You can’t just have wood… You need the offering.
Without it could weaken the flame.
1 Peter 3:7 ESV
Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.
Matthew 5:23–24 ESV
So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.
Matthew 6:14–15 ESV
For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
“God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”
The Fire
Luke 24:28 - 32
Hebrews 12:28-29
God is the Fire
Moses and the burning bush.
The fire on the mountain.
The End:
1 Kings 18:30-39
You see as the burning ones…
When the world comes and pours water on us
When the enemy comes and pours water on us
We will burn bright!
As we burn the whole world will come and see and fall on their faces and say “The Lord, He is God; The Lord He is God.”
Together we will burn bright.
It will not burn out because we won’t let it.
