Lost Coin

Luke 15:8–10 NIV

“Or suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one. Doesn’t she light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it? And when she finds it, she calls her friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost coin.’ In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

—> The coin has value

—> Both real tangible value and emotional value

—> light a lamp

—> The houses were dark only lit by a single window.

—> sweep the house

—> dirt floors covered in dried reeds and rushes

—> seek diligently until she finds it

—> Understanding a God that seeks; This is a new concept a God that seeks out after people.

—> not lost in the wilderness but in our homes/in our churches

—> 3 realities

—> There are lost people that are closer than we think. They aren’t just out in the world but close at hand.

—> There is a cost to seeking the lost.

It cost God Jesus. Why should we

—> There is real rejoicing when sinners are found.
