🎯 Mission Critical Announcment – Mother’s Day Edition 🎯

Good morning, church family—and Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible moms, grandmas, spiritual moms, and mother figures with us today! We are so glad you're here!
At Clear Lake Baptist, our mission is simple but life-changing: Making and Equipping More Disciples.
And today, we’re especially grateful for the women who have lived that mission right in their own homes—teaching, loving, correcting, and praying with unwavering faith.
Let’s be honest—being a mom isn’t easy.
It’s a 24/7 job with no pay, no vacation, and questionable coworkers.
One mom once said, “I childproofed my whole house… but they still get in!” 😄
So, as a small token of our appreciation, we have a gift for every lady in the room waiting for you at the back of the auditorium. Whether you’re a mom or not, we want to honor the role you play in shaping lives and pointing others to Jesus.
Thank you, moms, for being examples of love, endurance, and faith. We celebrate you today as a vital part of God's mission in this world.
Let’s continue worshiping the One who gave us the greatest example of love—our Heavenly Father.

INTRODUCTION

Good morning and Happy Mother’s Day!
Moms, let’s just start here:
you matter more than you know. And frankly, I think most of us take way too long to figure that out.
Someone once said: “Life doesn’t come with a manual—it comes with a mother.” Moms one of your greatest roles is to teach your children.
To show them what is right and wrong.
To help them learn how to be successful in this life.
A junior high science teacher was giving a test after a long unit on magnets. The first question read: “My name starts with an ‘M,’ has six letters, and I pick things up—what am I?”
Over half the students wrote down… “Mother.” (And every mom saYS, “Yep.”)
There was a dad who tried explaining marriage to his 4-year-old daughter using their wedding album.
After walking through the pictures and explaining the big day, he asked her if she had any questions. She pointed to a picture of his bride and said,
“Daddy… is that when Mommy came to work for us?”
Those stories make us laugh—but they also remind us just how much moms really do.
It’s more than picking things up or holding things together—it’s shaping lives.
You don’t just raise children—you raise futures. You’re not just changing diapers—you’re shaping destinies.
You have been given a job to raise up your children,
So today, I want us to celebrate your calling and be encouraged by six legendary moms in the Bible—women who didn’t have it easy, didn’t have it all figured out, but followed God faithfully and left a legacy through their children.
Let’s jump in and look at mom #1
Genesis 18 Tells us the story of Sarah, a Godly Mother who trusted inGod’s Promises

1. A Godly Mother Trusts in God's Promises (Sarah)

Sarah was old. And I don’t mean, like, “my back hurts when I get off the couch” old. She was 90 years old when God said, “You’re gonna have a baby.”
And what did she do?
SHe did exactly what most of us would do with that kind of news.. She laughed. why Because there was no humanly possible way for her to have a baby at 90 years old.
But Hebrews 11:11,
Hebrews 11:11 ESV
11 By faith Sarah herself received power to conceive, even when she was past the age, since she considered him faithful who had promised.
This verse is part of the great “Hall of Faith”—a chapter that celebrates people who believed God even when they couldn't see the full picture. Sarah is included in this Hall of Faith—not because she was perfect, but because she learned to trust the One who is.
Sarah had nothing going for her physically—she was Old, But when God told her I will defy all human limitations and I will make you conceive and give birth to a Son. She believed Him,, She believed in the One who had always been faithful.

Why Does This Matter for Moms Today:

It matters because it reminds us that a mother’s strength doesn’t come from her circumstances, her schedule, or her skillset—it comes from her God.
Legendary moms trust God even when they cant see the outcome yet.
they Trust that God will work in their child’s heart.
they Trust that He will sustain their marriage.
they Trust that He will use their sacrifices for eternal things.
they Trust that He is still writing a story even when it feels like the pages are blank.
When Sarah looked at her situation, she saw old age, closed doors, and impossibility and this made her laugh But when she looked at her God, she saw faithfulness and beleived that He would do what he said he would do.
A Godly Mother Trusts in God's Promises-even when they seem laughable.
Mom # 2 Is a Mother who Courageously Protected her child.
Her name is Jochebed

2. A Godly Mother Courageously Protects (Jochebed)

Jochebed lived in a world where fear ruled the headlines—literally.
Her family, Her entire nation were slaves to the Egyptian Pharaoh,
and as their slave population grew , Pharaoh wanted to make sure that they could never overpower his kingdom. So He issued a horrific law: Every Hebrew baby boy must be thrown into the Nile. .
But Jochebed looked at her newborn son and essentially said, “Not my son.”
Exodus 2:1–3 ESV
1 Now a man from the house of Levi went and took as his wife a Levite woman. 2 The woman conceived and bore a son, and when she saw that he was a fine child, she hid him three months. 3 When she could hide him no longer, she took for him a basket made of bulrushes and daubed it with bitumen and pitch. She put the child in it and placed it among the reeds by the river bank.
Mom’s Can you imagine hiding a crying newborn for three hours—let alone three months? That’s not just a protective instinct. That’s courage fueled by faith.
And when she could hide him no more, she made a tiny waterproof basket, and placed her son in the reeds of the Nile—not to abandon him, but to entrust him to her God.
Again this mom is mentioned in the Hall of Faith
Notice what Hebrews 11 says about Jochebed .
Hebrews 11:23 ESV
23 By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden for three months by his parents, because they saw that the child was beautiful, and they were not afraid of the king’s edict.
Jochebed didn’t just protect Moses physically—she positioned him for God’s purpose.
She let go, but in Faith she let go into the arms of the Almighty God.
moms today

Mom, what are you willing to risk to protect your children?

You may not be dodging Pharaohs soldiers, but you are battling a culture that wants to confuse, distract, and redefine your children.
You protect them when you:
Set boundaries on what they watch.
when you Teach them to walk away from compromise.
when you Say “no” when the world says “just go with it.”
when you Model integrity in front of them. Chosing to not sin but to be faithful to your God
And most of all—when you place them in God's hands trusting Him to lead their life

Legendary moms’s Courageously Protects Their Children- even when it means letting go.

Legendary Mom #3
Let me take you into one of the most heartfelt scenes in Scripture. 1 Samuel 1 where we find the story of Hannah

3. A Godly Mother Perseveres in Prayer (Hannah)

Hannah longed to be a mother, but for years she couldn’t conceive. and To make matter worse, her husband’s other wife (thats a sermon for another day) mocked her constantly because she couldn’t bear any children.
But instead of growing bitter, Hannah brought her brokenness to God.
1 Samuel 1:10–11 ESV
10 She was deeply distressed and prayed to the Lord and wept bitterly. 11 And she vowed a vow and said, “O Lord of hosts, if you will indeed look on the affliction of your servant and remember me and not forget your servant, but will give to your servant a son, then I will give him to the Lord all the days of his life, and no razor shall touch his head.”
This wasn’t polished or rehearsed. This was raw, honest, vulnerable, soul-pouring prayer.
In fact is wasSo intense, that Eli the priest thought she was drunk.
Ladies, Imagine praying so passionately the pastor accuses you of being drunk!
In verse 15 we see her responds to Eli
1 Samuel 1:15 ESV
15 No, my lord, I am a woman troubled in spirit. I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but I have been pouring out my soul before the Lord.
Ladies, She was women who cried out to her God in Prayer!
And then in vs 19-20 We read that
1 Samuel 1:19–20 ESV
19... the Lord remembered her. 20 And in due time Hannah conceived and bore a son, and she called his name Samuel, for she said, “I have asked for him from the Lord.”
Hannahs story Goes on and tell us that after Her son was weaned, She took Him back to the Temple to serve the Lord with His life.
She prayed for a son… and then fully surrendered him to God.
and moms, I believe she kept praying for Samuel long after she left him at the temple.
Prayer was her way of mothering her child.
Moms Today

Mom, are you praying for your kids with that kind of passion and faith?

Are you asking God to shape their hearts for Jesus?
To form their identity in truth?
To use their lives for His kingdom no matter the cost?

legendary Moms keep praying for their kids, even when the tears won’t stop

Because legendary moms understand that their children are a gift from God meant to be given back to him.
Let’s look at Mom #4.
This mom is unusual because… we don’t even know her name. She’s simply referred to as “the wife of Manoah.” or as we know her Samson’s MOM -
… But what makes her stand out isn’t her title—it’s her trust and obedience.

4. A Godly Mother Obeys God's Instructions (Samson's Mother)

This was a woman who obeyed God’s instructions,
even when they were unusual…
even when they were inconvenient…
even when they came before the blessing of child actually arrived.
Her story is found in Judges 13, during a time when Israel was in spiritual free fall—again.
They were under the control of the Philistines, and the people had turned their backs on God.
But instead of starting His rescue plan with a warrior, God started it with… a mom.
Judges 13:2–3 ESV
2 There was a certain man of Zorah, of the tribe of the Danites, whose name was Manoah. And his wife was barren and had no children. 3 And the angel of the Lord appeared to the woman and said to her, “Behold, you are barren and have not borne children, but you shall conceive and bear a son.
Once again, we see God's pattern: He often brings His greatest plans to life through impossible circumstances. God is using Another mom here who was unable to have children to raise u[p a warrior for His kingdom!
The angel doesn’t stop at the good news that she will have a son—he goes on and gives her clear instructions:
Judges 13:4–5 ESV
4 Therefore YOU MOM be careful and drink no wine or strong drink, and eat nothing unclean, 5 for behold, you shall conceive and bear a son. No razor shall come upon his head, for the child shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb, and he shall begin to save Israel from the hand of the Philistines.”
Let’s translate this into mom-stalk :
“You’re having a baby. But he won’t be like other boys. He’s mine.
He’s going to be Set apart and different Different, But I have big plans for his life!
So as His Mom, you need to live differently too.”
And here’s the amazing part of this story :
She obeys Immediately. No arguing, no excuses. Just obedience
She trust God so much that she says Im not just going to make sure my child follows God Im going to live like it in my own life too,
And that, moms, is rare and remarkable obedience.
Moms Today

Mom, whose voice are you following?

In a world filled with noise—social media, blogs, opinions, pressure from every direction—it’s easy to chase the newest parenting trend or fear you’re falling behind.
But like Samson’s mother, God hasn’t asked you to figure it all out—He’s asked you to follow Him.
Are you raising your child according to God’s Word or just what’s convenient?
Are you obeying when it’s uncomfortable—or only when it’s easy?
Are you listening for the voice of God in your parenting… or just trying to survive the day?
Samson’s mom never saw the full impact of her obedience. But her son would grow up to shake the pillars of a pagan empire.

Moms heres the challenge “ legendary moms aren’t the loudest, flashiest, or most followed. They’re the ones who obey when no one else is watching.

Let’s meet Mom #5.
Her name is Elizabeth—and her story shows us that a godly mother doesn’t give up… even when it feels like God has gone silent.

5. A Godly Mother Remains Steadfast (Elizabeth)

Elizabeth lived in a time of spiritual dryness. There had been no new Revelation from God for over 400 years.
Think about that—four centuries of silence.
But Elizabeth and her husband Zechariah were still faithfully serving the Lord.
Luke 1:6–7 ESV
6 And they were both righteous before God, walking blamelessly in all the commandments and statutes of the Lord. 7 But they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren, and both were advanced in years.
But Even in disappointment, Elizabeth and her husband kept walking with God.
They didn’t follow God for what He could give—they followed Him because He is good.
Then one day, God broke the silence.
Gabriel the angel of the Lord, appeared and told Zechariah:
Luke 1:13 ESV
13 …, “Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for your prayer has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John.
God hadn’t forgotten. He was just waiting for the perfect time.
In verse 25 we read that when Elizabeth became pregnant, she said:
Luke 1:25 ESV
25 “Thus the Lord has done for me in the days when he looked on me, to take away my reproach among people.”
Elizabeth didn’t let age or delay steal her joy—she praised God when the promise finally came.
Elizabeth was a legendary mom because she was Faithful during the hard times and she was faithful when God had blessed.
Moms Today :

Mom, will you stay faithful even when it feels like God is silent in your life? Even when the answer to your hearts deepest prayer is delayed?

Elizabeth reminds us:

A Godly Mother Remains Steadfast—even when the wait feels endless.

Let’s finish strong with Mom #6:
this mom didn’t have a big spotlight in Scripture, but her influence changed the entire church.
Her name was Eunice and she was the mother of Pastor Timothy—
a mom who nurtured Truth into Her sons life!

6. A Godly Mother Nurtures Truth (Eunice)

Paul speaking to Timothy says
2 Timothy 1:5 ESV
5 I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, dwells in you as well.
Timothy didn’t become a man of God by accident—he had a mother and a grand mother who planted the truth of God’s Word in his heart from the beginning.
Paul adds in
2 Timothy 3:15 ESV
15 and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
Eunice didn’t wait for church to disciple her child—she did it at home.
She didnt wait for him to be OLD ENOUGH she began when he was just a baby.
She didn’t need a pulpit—she had a kitchen table and she used it to raise up her child so that he was ready to serve the Lord!
Eunice understood that her child needed Gods Word Daily in his life!
