1 Some time later God tested Abraham. He said to him, “Abraham!” “Here I am,” he replied. 2 Then God said, “Take your son, your only son, whom you love—Isaac—and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you.” 3 Early the next morning Abraham got up and loaded his donkey. He took with him two of his servants and his son Isaac. When he had cut enough wood for the burnt offering, he set out for the place God had told him about. 4 On the third day Abraham looked up and saw the place in the distance. 5 He said to his servants, “Stay here with the donkey while I and the boy go over there. We will worship and then we will come back to you.” 6 Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering and placed it on his son Isaac, and he himself carried the fire and the knife. As the two of them went on together, 7 Isaac spoke up and said to his father Abraham, “Father?” “Yes, my son?” Abraham replied. “The fire and wood are here,” Isaac said, “but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?” 8 Abraham answered, “God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.” And the two of them went on together.

-Abraham planted a tree as a sign of faith and fruitfulness. And we applied this to ourselves in the aspect of our fruitfulness and spiritual growth.

La gran prueba | The great test

-La petición que Dios hace a Abraham, de sacrificar a su hijo se constituye en una gran prueba par Abraham.

- God's request of Abraham to sacrifice his son constitutes a great test for Abraham.

-Pensemos en lo que esto significa, después de esperar 25 años por uni hijo, ahora Dios se lo pide en sacrificio.

- Let's think about what this means: after waiting 25 years for a son, God now asks him to sacrifice him.

-Esta práctica no era desconocida por Abraham. Hay evidencias de que los pueblo fenicios, cananeos y mesopotámicos sacrificaban a sus niños, pero no era una práctica dominante ni cotidiana, sino que se realizaban sobre todo en tiempos de crisis, de guerra desastres naturales.

- This practice was not unknown to Abraham. There is evidence that the Phoenicians, Canaanites, and Mesopotamians sacrificed their children, but it was not a prevalent or everyday practice; rather, it was carried out especially in times of crisis, war, or natural disasters.

-El propósito que Dios tenía al hacer este pedido a Abraham, parece ser el de proponerle un cambio de costumbres para establecer las nuevas prácticas de la religión que se establecería con la nación que estaba naciendo.

-God's purpose in making this request of Abraham appears to have been to propose a change in customs to establish the new religious practices that would be established with the nation that was being born.

-It's as if God were saying, "You will not make your sacrifices as the pagan nations do."

Dos factores de multiplicación | Two factors of multiplication

-There are two aspects that stand out in this extreme act of obedience by Abraham: his capacity for detachment and his level of faith.

Capacidad de desprendimiento | Capacity for detachment

-En cuanto a su capacidad de desprendimiento, a esta etapa de la relación de Abraham con Dios, había aprendido a elegir. Para Abraham no había dudas de que en su vida el primero era Dios.

-Regarding his capacity for detachment, at this stage of Abraham's relationship with God, he had learned to choose. For Abraham, there was no doubt that in his life, God came first.

-Si este asunto no está definido en nuestra vida, será casi que imposible que podamos seguir a Dios y agradarle.

-If this matter is not defined in our lives, it will be almost impossible for us to follow God and please Him.

-Si Dios no es el primero en todo, no será posible amarlo con todo el corazón, con toda el alama y con todas nuestras fuerzas.

-If God is not first in everything, it will not be possible to love Him with all our heart, with all our soul, and with all our strength.

Revelation 2:2–4 RVR60

2 Yo conozco tus obras, y tu arduo trabajo y paciencia; y que no puedes soportar a los malos, y has probado a los que se dicen ser apóstoles, y no lo son, y los has hallado mentirosos; 3 y has sufrido, y has tenido paciencia, y has trabajado arduamente por amor de mi nombre, y no has desmayado. 4 Pero tengo contra ti, que has dejado tu primer amor.

Revelation 2:2–4 NIV

2 I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked people, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false. 3 You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary. 4 Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first.

-En otras palabras el Señor le dice: “ya no soy el primero a quien amas”.

Nivel de fe | Level of faith

-En cuanto a su nivel de fe, Abraham también había aprendido que cuando Dios hacía una promesa, lo hacía basado en un propósito; y El cumpliría Su propósito en Isaac, aunque tuviera que resucitarlo.

-Regarding his level of faith, Abraham had also learned that when God made a promise, it was based on a purpose; and He would fulfill His purpose in Isaac, even if He had to resurrect him.

Hebrews 11:11–19 NTV

11 Fue por la fe que hasta Sara pudo tener un hijo, a pesar de ser estéril y demasiado anciana. 11 It was by faith that even Sarah was able to have a child, though she was barren and was too old. She believed that God would keep his promise. 12 And so a whole nation came from this one man who was as good as dead—a nation with so many people that, like the stars in the sky and the sand on the seashore, there is no way to count them… 17 It was by faith that Abraham offered Isaac as a sacrifice when God was testing him. Abraham, who had received God’s promises, was ready to sacrifice his only son, Isaac, 18 even though God had told him, “Isaac is the son through whom your descendants will be counted.” 19 Abraham reasoned that if Isaac died, God was able to bring him back to life again. And in a sense, Abraham did receive his son back from the dead.

-En este nivel Abraham comienza a multiplicar su fe en la vida de su hijo, y esto se ve reflejado en sus palabras: “el muchacho y yo iremos, adoraremos y volveremos”, y “Dios se proveerá de cordero”.

-At this level, Abraham begins to multiply his faith in his son's life, and this is reflected in his words: "The lad and I will go, worship, and return," and "God will provide a lamb."

-These words represent the degree of security and trust in God's purpose.

La lección aprendida | The lesson learned

-La Escritura da testimonio de que Abraham sí “ofreció” su hijo a Dios. lo hizo en su mente.

-Scripture testifies that Abraham did "offer" his son to God. He did so in his mind.

-Pero para llegar a esta decisión, Abraham ya había experimentado otras que le habían permitido ejercitarse: ya había dejado su tierra y de su parentela; se había separado de su sobrino Lot, y también había despedido a su hijo Ismael.

- But to reach this decision, Abraham had already experienced other things that had allowed him to exercise his will: he had already left his land and his relatives; he had separated from his nephew Lot; and he had also dismissed his son Ishmael.

-Dios siempre estuvo con Abraham en todas estas experiencias.

-God was always with Abraham in all these experiences.

-Ahora Abraham conoce a Dios como “Jehová Jireh”: “Dios provee”.

-Now Abraham knows God as "Jehovah Jireh": "God provides."

—¿Porqué Dios le pidió a Abraham a su hijo, después que se lo había prometido y se lo había concedido tras un milagro? ¿No podía hacer multiplicar su descendencia sin ese requerimiento? ¿Acaso, no era para eso que Dios le había dado ese hijo?

-Why did God ask Abraham for his son, after having promised him and granted him after a miracle? Couldn't He have multiplied his descendants without this request? Wasn't that why God had given him this son?

-Creo que esta puede ser la respuesta:

-I think this may be the answer:

Para que Abraham no pusiera se olvidara que la razón de su bendición no era Isaac sino Dios.

So that Abraham would not forget that the reason for his blessing was not Isaac but God.

Para que Abraham no terminara amando más a la bendición que al que da la bendición.

So that Abraham would not end up loving the blessing more than the one who gives it.

-*La lección que Abraham debía aprender con esta experiencia, no era entregar a su hijo, sino confiar en Dios incondicionalmente.

-*The lesson that Abraham was to learn from this experience was not to hand over his son, but to trust God unconditionally.

-Si queremos llegar al nivel de la multiplicación de nuestra fe, debemos tener bien seguro quién es la fuente de la bendición, quién es el que provee para nuestra vida. Debemos aprender a confiar en Dios decididamente.

-If we want to reach the level of multiplication of our faith, we must be absolutely sure of who the source of the blessing is, who provides for our lives. We must to learn to trust in God decisively.

Llegar al tiempo de la bendición de la multiplicación, y de la excelencia espiritual, requiere fe, perseverancia y amor por Dios.

Reaching the time of the blessing of multiplication, and of spiritual excellence, requires faith, perseverance, and love for God.
