Romans 3:22 ESV
the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction:

IS IT THE FAITH OF JESUS OR IS IT OUR FAITH IN JESUS

It is the Faithfulness of Jesus to all who believe.

THOUGHT 1: RIGHTEOUSNESS

Righteousness is the conformity or obedience to a standard or obligation that is normally understood to be morally good, such that the expectations and requirements of relationship toward God and neighbor are satisfied.

Are we righteous?

In Rom 3:10 Paul references Psalms which says, “as it is written, “There is none righteous, not even one;”
Romans 1:17 ESV
For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.”

THOUGHT 2: THE FAITHFULNESS OF JESUS

the biggest concern is the word means Jesus…
the word is genitive singular which means “of” meaning it would be faith of Jesus.
the word for faith is which can also mean faithfulness according to the Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament .
meaning righteousness is given through the faithfulness of Jesus Christ to all who believe
1 John 1:9 ESV
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
What does this have to do with our faith? If it is Jesus’ Faithfulness, or His faith , what is the point of us having our Faith?

THOUGHT 3: OUR FAITH

Faith is what leads us to Righteousness and its by the Righteous one who grants us out of His Righteousness, which means through his faithfulness we are saved.
1 Peter 3:18 ESV
For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit,
Christ was the willing sacrifice and because of his faithfulness, we are able to receive Him.
Even in our lack of Faith he still is faithful.
2 Timothy 2:13 ESV
if we are faithless, he remains faithful— for he cannot deny himself.
Our faith is trusting in his faithfulness even when we don’t see it
Hebrews 11:1 ESV
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
Jesus sets an example of faith for us in Luke 22:42
Luke 22:42 ESV
saying, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.”
During this time Jesus was about to be killed, and I could only imagine that he did not want to be killed. But even through the human anxieties of dying he still placed his faith in the Father, saying take this cup from me, take these anxieties from me, and let your will be done.

CONCLUSION/ APPLICATION

What does this mean for us?
The truth is, we all are unrighteous [HOT MESSES], but Jesus’ (the Righteous one) faithfulness in having faith in the Father , setting an example for us (the unrighteous) to have faith in him, to believe in him and be saved.
Ephesians 2:8 ESV
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,
