Sowing Into the Kingdom: A Heart for the Church
As we journey from **Easter** toward **Pentecost next Month**, we reflect not just on Christ’s **resurrection**, but on the **birth** of the **Church**—a **community** of believers, united by the **Holy Spirit**, pouring themselves out for one another in **love**.
Jesus said:
*"But **seek first** the **kingdom** of God and His **righteousness**, and all these things shall be added to you."* — Matthew 6:33
The **resurrection** wasn’t just the **victory** over death—it was an invitation into **Kingdom living**. And **Kingdom living** is marked by **sacrificial love, trust, and joyful giving**.
**The Early Church: A Model of Kingdom Generosity**
I  ask you to **bear with me**—this next verse can be **challenging**, but I ask that you hear my heart as we unpack it.
*"And all who **believed** were **together** and had **all things in common**. And they were **selling their possessions** and **distributing** the proceeds to all, as any had need."* — Acts 2:44-45
Let’s **pause**. I want to be **clear**—I am **not** suggesting that anyone should do this. This was a **specific** movement of the **Spirit** in the **first believers**.
But what I **do** want to highlight is **the posture of their hearts**—their **gratitude, joy, and love** for one another.
They didn’t give out of **duty**. They didn’t give because they were **told to**. They gave because their **hearts had been transformed** by Jesus—they gave because they **had received everything** in Him.
**Breaking Up the Fallow Ground*
Scripture calls us to **prepare** our hearts for what God wants to do:
*"Sow for yourselves **righteousness**; reap **steadfast love**; break up your **fallow ground**, for it is time to **seek the Lord**, that He may come and **rain righteousness** upon you."* — Hosea 10:12
Often, hesitation keeps us from **giving**—fear that we **don’t have enough**, doubt that our contribution will **matter**. But **Kingdom sowing is never wasted**. The **early believers** didn’t just give material things—they gave **prayers, encouragement, time, and devotion**.  And because they **sowed**, the **Church grew**.
**The Overflowing Basket**
Imagine two baskets—one is **tightly held**, never poured out, kept full for security. The other is **constantly emptied, shared, poured into others**.
At first, it looks like the **first basket** is wiser—it stays full while the other empties. But soon, something **changes**. The **first basket remains stagnant**, untouched, collecting dust. The **second basket, however, keeps being refilled**—because as it is **poured out, God replenishes**.  This is the **Kingdom**—when we **hold back**, we remain **stagnant**. When we **give, serve, and pour out in faith**, God ensures we **never run dry**.
*"The **generous soul** will be made **rich**, and he who **waters** will also be **watered himself**."* — Proverbs 11:25
**I want to give you all an open Invitation to Pentecost Living**
The **early Church** was **alive with the Spirit** because they lived **open-handed**, trusting that when they **gave**, God would bring **increase**.
So today, let me encourage you—**pause and seek the Lord**.
Ask Him:
*"Lord, how are You calling me to **sow into Your Church**? Where can I **give, serve, and pour out in faith**?"*
**Pentecost** reminds us—the **Spirit moves** where **hearts are prepared**. When we **give with joy**, when we **sow with trust**, when we **support the ministry of the Church**, we **participate** in the very **work** that began on that **first Pentecost** And in doing so, we see the **Kingdom expand**, **lives transformed**, and the **Spirit poured out in power**.
**Amen.**
Pray a Blessing**
**Heavenly Father,**
We come before You with hearts full of **gratitude**. You are the **source of life**, the **giver of every good and perfect gift**. Thank You for Your **unending grace**, Your **steadfast love**, and the **joy of sowing into Your Kingdom**.
- Lord, as we **prepare our hearts for Pentecost**, we ask for the **overflow of Your Spirit**. Pour out the **river of living waters** upon us—**refresh us, strengthen us, empower us** to walk in **faith, trust, and joyful obedience**. May Your **presence fill** every **dry place**, every **weary soul**, every **waiting heart**.
Father, bless this **church**, bless every **person gathered here**. May we be **united in love**, **generous in spirit**, and **bold in faith**. Teach us to **give** not from **obligation**, but from the **overflow** of knowing You—our **provider, sustainer, ever-present help**.
Let Your **power move** among us. Let Your **Spirit guide us**. Let Your **river flow**—bringing **healing, renewal, and abundant life**.
- May Your **Kingdom come**, may Your **will be done**, in our **lives, in this church, in our communities**, as it is in **heaven**.
We receive Your **blessing, grace, and anointing**. And we give You **all the glory, all the honour, and all the praise**.
In **Jesus’ mighty and Matchless name**,
**Amen.**
