Apostels Creed

‌I believe in God, the Father Almighty,

creator of heaven and earth;

‌I believe in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord

who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,

born of the Virgin Mary,

suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, died, and was buried;*

He descended to the dead

on the third day he rose again

he ascended into heaven,

is seated at the right hand the Father

and will come again to judge the living and the dead.

‌I believe in the Holy Spirit,

the holy catholic* church,

the communion of saints,

the forgiveness of sins,

the resurrection of the body,

and the life everlasting.

Amen.

Let us pray

Lord bee with us this morning as we honor our mothers and understand their love for us.

Amen

Praying Woman

This morning we are honoring our Mothers. I would like to start this message with a prayer that a mother wrote for her children it’s called

A Mothers Prayer

Jesus, above all else I ask that you would call my children to yourself and that nothing would hinder them from coming to you.

May they confess with their mouths you as Lord, Jesus, and believe in their hearts that God raised you from the dead. Let your Word richly dwell within them, Father, and even as they grow in knowledge and understanding I pray that they will never lose their childlike faith.

Lord, let our children know and embrace the magnitude of your love and the freedom of your grace, learning daily to walk and be empowered by the Spirit and not to carry out the desires of their flesh. Teach them to actively submit to you, to be quick to confess and forsake their sin, and to resist the devil so he will flee from them. As they turn from evil, let them cling to you, love you, and hunger and thirst for righteousness, and in so doing may they obey you and bear fruit so that your joy may be in them, Jesus.

Help them also to honor us, their parents, by obeying us in your name. Today and always, I pray our children will be kind, tender-hearted and forgiving toward one another and others, and may they regard each other and all others as more important than themselves. Surround our children with wise, God-fearing peers and mentors who will help us teach and demonstrate for them how to seek wisdom, listen to counsel and walk in integrity. Keep their minds pure, desiring and dwelling on all things good and praiseworthy and overflowing with gratitude.

Finally, incline our children’s hearts, Lord God, to pray in all things. Grant us the greatest joy, Father, by allowing us to see our children walking in the Truth. We give you all praise and glory, Lord, for all the work you have done and will do in our children’s hearts and lives. Amen.

You see this prayer a mother had written from the scriptures. What kind of a parent do we want to be for our children? We as humans always think of only health, wealth, and happiness. But after hearing this prayer is it not the prayer we are thinking of? If the prayer this mother prayed is granted by God then her children will have all of the things and more than the simple human prayers we ask for our children all the time. Again I ask why do we try to limit God. In our prayer challenge we prayed about not being afraid to boldly ask God for the things we think might be crazy. Well some people ,may think this lady was crazy to ask God for all the things she prayed to God for. I say when you care about someone you will do whatever is necessary to protect and guide them. What better way than to pray from scripture. This mothers prayer I read was all taken from scripture. This mother loved her children so much that she covered them in prayers from scripture to hopefully help secure their place with Jesus Christ. But we all know we can not pray someone to salvation, but it never hurts to pray for divine intersession. We always say we would do anything for our kids are we willing to go to the Lord on their behalf?

There was a song sang by Loretta Lynn called put your “hand in the hand of the man” she sang about putting your hand in the hand of the man who calmed the sea. then the next lyric was when you look at yourself in the mirror you can look at others differently. she went on later to sing she was ashamed of her self because she was not the girl she should be. She went on to say put your hand in the hand of the man who stilled the water and you can love others perfectly. This is the kid of mothers we have in our church the ones who walk hand in hand with Jesus to help guide our children in the right path so when they look in the mirror they can see a person God wants them to be. So today as we celebrate Mothers let’s thank them for being Praying women.

Amen
