Behave as Christians should behave.
Behave as Christians should behave.
Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
1.In this verse Jesus is telling his followers to be well versed in what they are saying and teaching. and be well versed in the answers one to the other.
2.These tenants should have been passed along to every christian today , meaning that we should stay well studied as to know how to lead new followers to Christ.
3. Also we should handle ourselves in such a way that it very noticeable to others that they would want to emulate that Christian behavior.
many times we don't understand that we are being judged as Christians not in a negative way but to see if it is worth for another person to give the christian faith a chance. or to see if you a trustworthy person to trust their children too.
many times we run people away from christ without ever knowing it, (examples) sitting around gossiping with neighbors about things such as fornication, infidelity or how some other neighbor is misbehaving.
sitting around drinking when we portray being a set aside christian: now there's nothing wrong with having a drink once in a while i’m talking about getting flat out drunk with people when you know that your testimony should be that of leading souls to Christ.
American Standard Version Chapter 5
Ye are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hid. 15 Neither do men light a lamp, and put it under the bushel, but on the stand; and it shineth unto all that are in the house. 16 Even so let your light shine before men; that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
What jesus is say ing here is that our lives should be a glowing beacon that others shall know it from a far off. if you can recall sometimes when jesus traveled his reputation proceeded him. people would gather just hearing his name so much so that the leaders of that day set things in motion to eliminate Jesus wrongfully.
remember the story of Barabbas who was a know criminal and the people chose to free Barabbas and crucify jesus. but Jesus kept preaching his message of salvation because he knew what his purpose was and that was to deliver the souls of men from bondage and this is the same purpose that we have as Christians today to deliver the souls of men from bondage by equipping the with the word of God so that they will not be caught in the snare of satan. and be convicted to hell.
These things we should do for if you read on verse 19 and 20 speaks of your reward.
American Standard Version Chapter 5
19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 For I say unto you, that except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no wise enter into the kingdom of heaven.
