Genesis 41:1–8 ESV
After two whole years, Pharaoh dreamed that he was standing by the Nile, and behold, there came up out of the Nile seven cows, attractive and plump, and they fed in the reed grass. And behold, seven other cows, ugly and thin, came up out of the Nile after them, and stood by the other cows on the bank of the Nile. And the ugly, thin cows ate up the seven attractive, plump cows. And Pharaoh awoke. And he fell asleep and dreamed a second time. And behold, seven ears of grain, plump and good, were growing on one stalk. And behold, after them sprouted seven ears, thin and blighted by the east wind. And the thin ears swallowed up the seven plump, full ears. And Pharaoh awoke, and behold, it was a dream. So in the morning his spirit was troubled, and he sent and called for all the magicians of Egypt and all its wise men. Pharaoh told them his dreams, but there was none who could interpret them to Pharaoh.
2 miserable prison years
pass after the cup bearer has gone frree
and now
all of the sudden
pharo is having a very troubling dream
in His dream
He is standing near the nile river
——-this is that popular river in Egypt, the one moses
will eventually turn into blood
and out of the river came 7 big healthy cows
they walk up out of the river as if they were amphibeans
and start eating on the marsh grass
then 7 other cows come up out of the river
except these ones were ugly, thin, and sickly
and these cows eat the healthy ones
and then all of a sudden
he wakes up
im sure it was similar to a bad dream you may have had
where you wake up , sweating , and freaked out
and all you can do is call on the name of Jesus
because your dream has freaked you out
so pharo ponders the dream
goes back to sleep
and has a second dream
He has the same dream
but this time instead of cows it is
stalks of grain
first 7 plump ears of grain
followed by 7 thin ears of grain that swallow up the good ones
in the morning
he cant stop thinking of these dreams
his spirit is troubled
He needs to now what this dream means
it was too exact to be a coincidence
He knew there was a message in it
so HE calls on the magicians and the wise men of egypt
\but.… they could not interpret it
now remember what joseph said in jail to the cup bearer and bread maker
Genesis 40:8 NKJV
And they said to him, “We each have had a dream, and there is no interpreter of it.” So Joseph said to them, “Do not interpretations belong to God? Tell them to me, please.”
no one can interpret it because the source is Godless

answers come from God

all of our answers come from God
we must stop looking for answers from
magicians and wise men
there are many times
we have issues in our lives and we go to the wrong source
there are too many times we ask friends
before we ask God
and we get a magicians advice instead of the heart of God
q. What are some of your deepest questions about your life
and life in general
Q. Why do you exist ? .
the spirit of the wise men and magicians would say
to glorify yourself ,,, to have fun , and dont let anyone tell you what to do
God would say you exist to know Him and enjoy Him
Q. How do you know God.
the magician and wise men would say I dont really know
all Gods are equal and everyone is right
Our God would say
John 14:6 NKJV
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
God tells us that he has given us His Son and Bible so that we would know Him
and we would Know how to have
a right relationship with Him
thats why it is so key to
submit yourself fully to the book.
and this is where we get our interpretation
He has given us these stories and 66 books
so that when we are faced with troubling questions
we have a resource
Q. so if we need an answer to a question
Who has the answer
God
Q. and where do find that answer
in His word and through prayer
Story - Perplexed , Why is abortion so bad
Psalm 139:13 ESV
For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.
the worlds answers vs Gods answers
lets keep reading
Genesis 41:9–13 ESV
Then the chief cupbearer said to Pharaoh, “I remember my offenses today. When Pharaoh was angry with his servants and put me and the chief baker in custody in the house of the captain of the guard, we dreamed on the same night, he and I, each having a dream with its own interpretation. A young Hebrew was there with us, a servant of the captain of the guard. When we told him, he interpreted our dreams to us, giving an interpretation to each man according to his dream. And as he interpreted to us, so it came about. I was restored to my office, and the baker was hanged.”
by Gods grace
He uses this struggle
to jog the memory of the cup bearer
He remembers Joseph after two years
and this is a testimony
to share your faith
because you dont know who will remember
the time you shared Jesus with them 2 years later
you see the cup bearer remembers Joseph
and tells the pharo about him
this young Hebrew
who is a man of the Hebrew God YAHWEH
He has the answers
Genesis 41:14–16 ESV
Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they quickly brought him out of the pit. And when he had shaved himself and changed his clothes, he came in before Pharaoh. And Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I have had a dream, and there is no one who can interpret it. I have heard it said of you that when you hear a dream you can interpret it.” Joseph answered Pharaoh, “It is not in me; God will give Pharaoh a favorable answer.”
I love that here
Joseph gives all glory and power to God
for it is God who will give you the right answer
its not in me
you need to recognize this as well
the world tells you to find your inner strength
the bible tells you to find your strength in the Lord
Genesis 41:17–24 NKJV
Then Pharaoh said to Joseph: “Behold, in my dream I stood on the bank of the river. Suddenly seven cows came up out of the river, fine looking and fat; and they fed in the meadow. Then behold, seven other cows came up after them, poor and very ugly and gaunt, such ugliness as I have never seen in all the land of Egypt. And the gaunt and ugly cows ate up the first seven, the fat cows. When they had eaten them up, no one would have known that they had eaten them, for they were just as ugly as at the beginning. So I awoke. Also I saw in my dream, and suddenly seven heads came up on one stalk, full and good. Then behold, seven heads, withered, thin, and blighted by the east wind, sprang up after them. And the thin heads devoured the seven good heads. So I told this to the magicians, but there was no one who could explain it to me.”
we have a recap of the dream
and we also have a second time God reminding us
that the magicians didnt have an answer
thats important
only God has the right answer
Genesis 41:25–36 NKJV
Then Joseph said to Pharaoh, “The dreams of Pharaoh are one; God has shown Pharaoh what He is about to do: The seven good cows are seven years, and the seven good heads are seven years; the dreams are one. And the seven thin and ugly cows which came up after them are seven years, and the seven empty heads blighted by the east wind are seven years of famine. This is the thing which I have spoken to Pharaoh. God has shown Pharaoh what He is about to do. Indeed seven years of great plenty will come throughout all the land of Egypt; but after them seven years of famine will arise, and all the plenty will be forgotten in the land of Egypt; and the famine will deplete the land. So the plenty will not be known in the land because of the famine following, for it will be very severe. And the dream was repeated to Pharaoh twice because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass. “Now therefore, let Pharaoh select a discerning and wise man, and set him over the land of Egypt. Let Pharaoh do this, and let him appoint officers over the land, to collect one-fifth of the produce of the land of Egypt in the seven plentiful years. And let them gather all the food of those good years that are coming, and store up grain under the authority of Pharaoh, and let them keep food in the cities. Then that food shall be as a reserve for the land for the seven years of famine which shall be in the land of Egypt, that the land may not perish during the famine.”
Here we get the interpretation
and our second point

Wisdom comes from God

joseph leans on God
and God gives him not only the interpretation
but also the plan
here comes a famine
but first seven years of plenty
What I want you to do is prepare a storehouse of food
for when the famine strikes
and Egypt will survive and have all the
surrounding nations coming to them
He filtered everything through God
and delivered wisdom
thats what we are to do
lean on God and His word for wisdom
filter your life problems and decisions through the word
for filtering your life through the Word is to filter your life in the Lord
example :
using wisdom in work
God calls you to be a part of the local church
if you have a job that makes you work Sunday
what should you do?
lean on God
and find wisdom for your life in Him
and He will give you wisdom as he gave joseph
even to see that principle to save and prepare
for you do not know what may come your way
Genesis 41:37–57 ESV
This proposal pleased Pharaoh and all his servants. And Pharaoh said to his servants, “Can we find a man like this, in whom is the Spirit of God?” Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Since God has shown you all this, there is none so discerning and wise as you are. You shall be over my house, and all my people shall order themselves as you command. Only as regards the throne will I be greater than you.” And Pharaoh said to Joseph, “See, I have set you over all the land of Egypt.” Then Pharaoh took his signet ring from his hand and put it on Joseph’s hand, and clothed him in garments of fine linen and put a gold chain about his neck. And he made him ride in his second chariot. And they called out before him, “Bow the knee!” Thus he set him over all the land of Egypt. Moreover, Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I am Pharaoh, and without your consent no one shall lift up hand or foot in all the land of Egypt.” And Pharaoh called Joseph’s name Zaphenath-paneah. And he gave him in marriage Asenath, the daughter of Potiphera priest of On. So Joseph went out over the land of Egypt. Joseph was thirty years old when he entered the service of Pharaoh king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from the presence of Pharaoh and went through all the land of Egypt. During the seven plentiful years the earth produced abundantly, and he gathered up all the food of these seven years, which occurred in the land of Egypt, and put the food in the cities. He put in every city the food from the fields around it. And Joseph stored up grain in great abundance, like the sand of the sea, until he ceased to measure it, for it could not be measured. Before the year of famine came, two sons were born to Joseph. Asenath, the daughter of Potiphera priest of On, bore them to him. Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh. “For,” he said, “God has made me forget all my hardship and all my father’s house.” The name of the second he called Ephraim, “For God has made me fruitful in the land of my affliction.” The seven years of plenty that occurred in the land of Egypt came to an end, and the seven years of famine began to come, as Joseph had said. There was famine in all lands, but in all the land of Egypt there was bread. When all the land of Egypt was famished, the people cried to Pharaoh for bread. Pharaoh said to all the Egyptians, “Go to Joseph. What he says to you, do.” So when the famine had spread over all the land, Joseph opened all the storehouses and sold to the Egyptians, for the famine was severe in the land of Egypt. Moreover, all the earth came to Egypt to Joseph to buy grain, because the famine was severe over all the earth.
guys
Pharo is so impressed
but by what
verse 38
is there anyone whom has the spirit of God like this!!!
He sees Gods favor on Josephs life

Favor comes from God

Pharoh makes Joseph second in line to the throne of Egypt
because he has saved egypt from death
yet only by Gods decision and grace
according to the salvation of who?
Israel
at the age of 30 God has placed Joseph over egypt
Joseph marries an egyptian woman and has children
and he starts storing food in prep for the famine
this man has gone through ups and downs
the pit to leader of potiphers house
to the pit to leader of egypt
Gods favor was with Joseph the whole time
He leads egypt in providing food as the famine strikes
the whole earth comes to egypt to buy food
and egypt gets very very wealthy
and from this passage we see
a beautiful story of God exalting Joseph
we see that He leaned on God for strength and wisdom
and it was God who gave Him the answers that he needed
it was God who gave him the wisdom that he needed
and it was God who gave him the favor due to the widom he displayed
Joseph waited on the Lord
trusted in the Lord and
God was faithful to lift up Joseph
and if you stay close to Him
and draw close to Him
He will lift you up as well
Psalm 40:2 ESV
He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure.
draw answers, wisdom, and favor from Him
and you will walk on the Rock of the Lord
lets pray
