Jonathan warns David

Re- cap we left off with Michal Sauls daughter and Davids wife she saves David and helps him escape from Saul’s men.

We see David go to Ramah where he finds Samuel and God does something pretty cool and unusual there, Who remebers what happened? All the men Saul sent began to worship and prophecy against their own will even Saul.

Verse 1 we clearly see Saul had tried to keep form Jonathan his hatred and desire to kill David because he was aware of their friendship.

Verse 3 we see Davids reasonable doubt and fear that he will be killed due to Sauls multiple attempts at taking his life.

Verse 4, Jonathan really was a great friend and a friend of loyalty , it would have been very dangerous for him to be helping David the man his father wanted to kill. Saul was his father and he was the King so for Jonathan to go behind his back to protect David says alot about their friendship and a lot more about his character.

Its important to remember that Jonathan would have been next up in line for the throne because it was Saul was his father, yet due to Jonathans relationship with God and his love for David he knew it was Gods plan for David to be King.

Verse 5, there were special sacrifices were commanded for the new moon, at the beginning of each month on the Jewish calendar.

Verse 14-17 , Jonathan knew of the political dynamic between the family of David and the family of Jonathan. In these days when one royal house replaced another it was common for the new royal house to kill all the potential rulers from the old royal house.
