People always want a certainty...
When we invest—we want a guarantee.
We want there to be zero risk or to be protected against any loss due to the risk.
3 And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments.
4 Whoever says “I know him” but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him,
5 but whoever keeps his word, in him truly the love of God is perfected. By this we may know that we are in him:
6 whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.
Assurance is Evidenced in Obedience
Assurance is Evidenced in Obedience
On our part it is the direct connection of the outflow of salvation:
We obey…
3 And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments.
Not from duty, but as a love response.
15 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.
On Christ’s part we see He has a purpose in our Salvation:
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
Be Righteous-
1 My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.
Rebellion Is Evidenced in Disobedience:
Rebellion Is Evidenced in Disobedience:
22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’
23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’
False professions lead to failed lives & fraudulent proclamations.
4 Whoever says “I know him” but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him,
Be Real!
21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, ...
So how does this compare to Romans 10:13.
13 For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
This text is a direct connection to the argument on a variance between being Jew or Greek.
Romans 10:13 has a context and we cannot read this verse outside of it.

6 whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.
4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.
5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.
Be Residing!
7 If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.
