John 14:1-14
John 14:1-14
2 mis-understandings:
Jesus: I am going to prepare a place for you … you know the way
Thomas: Lord, we don’t know the way … ,
I AM the way
Jesus: If you had known me, you would have known the Father …
Philip: Show us the Father …
Jesus: see me, see the Father.
And yet —Jesus promises, again, anyone who believes will do the same works as I, and greater.

Shows us the way through our own difficult times
Following the right way doesn’t mean relying on our own ability to be righteous through thoughtful actions. Rather, it means understanding our need for His righteousness. It’s God’s work in us, recreating us. It’s His Spirit, directing our ways and making us new in Him.
John D. Barry; Rebecca Kruyswijk
The Apostles’ failure to understand Jesus, even after they were with him for so long a time, is a mirror to, and portent of, our own, inevitable, failings; and jesus’ support for them is our promise of his support for us in whatever difficulty we may be.
