Intro:
Joel: Intro the heart of missions.
Last week we talked about living missional. That we are called to live upward and outward. The upward call of God is relational, it is to know Him. The outward call of God is seen in the great commission and acts of compassion.
Anchor Verse: Matthew 28:18–20 “And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.”
This morning, Pastor Josh and I, want to share with you the heart of missions. As we begin, check out this video.

Conversation: Josh and Joel - highlighting the heart of missions from the video.
Video Script: Imagine if we viewed our entire life as a missions trip. A journey not defined by departure date or return flight, but by a continuous drive and sacrifice to serve, and share the gospel. Mission trips as we know them are powerful experiences. Most of them marked by a clear beginnings and ends. Fitting neatly into our calendars and our lives. They push us out of our comfort zones and challenge us to serve. Open our eyes to the needs of the world. But what if the end of the trip wasn’t the end of the mission.
Our real missions begins with a compelling problem. The lost and the hurting, those who have never heard God’s name or experienced His love. This mission doesn't pause, it’s not subject to schedule or convenience. It’s ongoing, relentless, driven by the love and command of Christ.
As we embrace this perspective, let’s challenge ourselves to step out in faith. to lower ourselves and to serve the least, the last, and the lost. To bring light into darkness, hope to despair, and love where there is hatred. The magnitude of God’s sacrifice and the depth of Christ love, lead us to respond and to be moved to action. Let us answer the cry of our savior to take the Gospel throughout the world. Pray with me for current fields, and future laborers. Invest in his word going forth, and yes there may be some of us, some of our own sons and daughters, and perhaps even you, may go. As the father has sent the son, we too are sent.

Foundational Scripture: Romans 10:14–18 “How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!” But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?” So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. But I say, have they not heard? Yes indeed: “Their sound has gone out to all the earth, And their words to the ends of the world.””
General thought: People won’t know about the hope, forgiveness, and healing found in the gospel if someone doesn’t tell them. People can’t go to tell them if no one sends them.
Missions Mind-shift: Missions is not about raising money. Its about souls.

I remember in one of the rooms we ran out of food in the bowl. We were getting more, but he didn’t know it. I can still see the look of fear in his eyes that he wasn’t going to eat that day, and then also the relief when we brought a plate of food in to him. I learned that hope that day is not expensive, it was $10 a month. My family has been giving to feed one ever since.
Conversation: Josh and Joel - Initiatives like feed one, BGMC, Speed the Light, and Church Rescue help to shape the future of nations.
No one person does the work from beginning. It is a long-term emphasis and call from the heart of God.
