2 Corinthians 4:17
For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory – NKJV
For our momentary light affliction is producing for us an absolutely incomparable eternal weight of glory. - CSB
Objective:
For everyone to understand that afflictions are not avoidable. Jesus mentioned that we will all go through affliction but to know that He has is victorious over everything.
Message:
For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. – NKJV Rom 8:18
Pressure allows us to be broken down and molded into the image of Christ. Look at Gold or diamonds. Its with fire and pressure that they are brought to become valuable. We can compare this to the glory. What we go through will bring things out of us that is impure. That isn’t gratifying to our Father. Its not to make you feel bad, although it doesn’t feel good during the process but its for us to identify those things, hand them to our Father and work on them. We need to allow ourselves to go through the process of affliction. Affliction is the process of pain and suffering. Jesus went through the pain and suffering for us. Us being Children of God, are not exempt from affliction. No one is, not even those who are in the world. But for us, we have the Holy Spirit. We have the victory of Christ with us. When we partner with Him we allow ourselves to be transformed into His image. The way we glorify His life is in our everyday walk. That when people encounter us, they truly encounter Christ. This is one of the greatest glory’s. Healings, miracles and God showing up is great and that also bring glory to His name but man when we can bring people to encounter Christ, this is one of the great things that can happen.
I want to ask you, reflect on who you were before Christ. What was your life like? Now fast forward and see all the goodness you have had through Him!!! This is why we need to allow these afflictions to mold us. In the end we are the ones rewarded. The more of Him that is in us, the more we reflect Him.
Closing:
I want to leave you with this.
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. – NKJV Mat 5:16.
What afflictions am I going through today and what do I need to learn from it? We need to always ask our Father what do I need to learn from this trial. What are you doing in my heart?
