Exponential Conference March 17th-20th
Exponential was a great conference. As it allowed me to get away to reset and refresh. The theme of the conference was “Greater Things” from John 14:12-14.
A great challenge as it reminds us about the power of the
Holy Spirit inside of us.
My key takeaways and applications of the whole conference were, no matter how busy we get in ministry
we always need to treasure King Jesus above all else.
Also to detail it out more about our strategic planning and
vision planning with the bias of disciples making disciples in mind.
Also developing more of a culture of “Bless”
both in my personal life and in the life of Mount Carmel Church of God.
Spiritual Health and Worship
Changed order of worship service and grouped songs together instead of having two sets of two for a better flow of the service and also switched when we pray over the tithes and offering to before we collect to show a dependence on the Lord instead of a “God bless us for what we’ve given” type of mindset.
Also asked Dillon to do announcements to get more comfortable upfront as part of his internship because he struggles with confidence.
Wednesday evening youth group is going well. Lot’s of unchurched teens are attending and Mike Hayes and Myself are in there along with Dillon to help lead it.
Still doing visitations and hospital calls. Also, meeting with Dillon every week for mentorship. We just started going through a book by John Maxwell entitled “Winning with People”. Working with him on people skills, organization and punctuality.
Started back up the “Friday evening street ministry”. Prayed for several people. Including one who asked us to pray the sinner’s prayer with him.
Attending committee meetings such as deacons & deaconess, Elders, missions, and VBS. Also, attended a Church life Commission meeting for the conference.
Also, Dave Odegard would like to meet with the board to discuss the parsonage.
I am Preaching through the book of Galatians on Sunday mornings. Focusing on the themes of grace, freedom and walking in the Spirit. Today was on the beauty of brokenness and how to repair broken relationships and conflict in a healthy and biblical way which is promptly, lovingly and directly with each other. The fruit of the Spirit-especially gentleness, patience, and self control should guide us in how we engage in one another.
I am always available to discuss concerns about the church directly, for that is the biblical and spiritual healthy way to discuss them.
