Title: When Arrows Wander Parenting Through Pain, Rebellion, or Fear This week we’re looking at one of the most familiar and powerful parables in Scripture—The Prodigal Son (Luke 15). Whether your child is far from the Lord or you’re simply carrying fear about the future, this message is for the weary parent. We’ll talk about what to do when your child isn’t walking with God, how to trust Him with the outcome, and why there’s grace for every heartbroken, anxious, or exhausted parent. Even when arrows wander, God’s love never does.

Scripture: Luke 15:11-20
Message Title: When Arrows Wander
Prayer
Transition Statement

Me: I’ve been the wandering arrow

Minecraft - Arrows - I’ve been the arrow...

We: We know this story one way or another

Some of us have lived this story...
Some of us have seen a child drift away… We did it all… but they drifted...
Some of us are scared we’re going to see this… we’re nervous about raising arrows because they might still drift off...
Some of us arn’t parents but you’ve poured into people, you’ve prayed for people, you’ve ministered to people… but you watch them just drift off
It hurts but some of that is going to happen
And we all have the same questions right??? - What do I do when they go a different way?

God: Prodigal Son / Loving Father

Luke 15:12 - The son asks for his inheritance… BUT the father didn’t have to give him the inheritance (THIS WOULD HAVE SHOCKED PEOPLE).
You can let them go without cutting them off THIS HAS ALWAYS BEEN THE HEART OF GOD - Matthew 5:45
He lives his life - He makes bad choices
Luke 15:20 - He ran - Men like him don’t run The Village Kezazah No shame… just love
He doesn’t even technically say sorry… but the father still show’s him love
Hosea - God’s heart - Hosea 11:7-9
God disciplines yes… but the goal is always restoration

You: So what do you do when they wander...?

For the parent, the already parent, for the non-parent...
1. Let them go but don’t let go…anger never wins
2. Trust God with the outcome… God has to be the one to turn them.
3. Stay full of grace… Jim Cymbala
And if you’re the son who’s wandering… this is what you’ll find if you come to God right now.

We: As a church we carry this together...

We pray together
We get real about our stories
And we pray together again
