A Firm Believer In Christ (Hebrews 3:1-6)

Firm - on mention is here in the NT; means not likely to fail or give way, proved to be true.
Some claim to be believers in Christ, but are they proved to be true believers in Christ?
You may claim to be a true believer in Christ, but are you true to that statement?
What evidence is needed for you to know, and others to know, that your a firm believer in Christ?

A Firm Family (vs.1)

People believe in God, but the devils also believe and tremble.
Just because you believe in Christ doesn’t mean you have received Christ.
John 1:11–12 “He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:”
John 3:27 “John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven.”
We’re partakers of the heavenly CALLING. You can receive a call unless someone else calls you!
Calling - an authoritative summons (Spoken|Holy Spirit or Written|Holy Scriptures) to participate or be present or to take part in something
Matthew 11:28–30 “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

A Firm Faithfulness (vs.2)

A lot of saved people think that going to church is their faithfulness and that’s it. NOPE. That’s the easy part!
Matthew 25:14-30,
God gives us responsibilities. We are to be responsible for our faithfulness and how we yield ourselves to the Scriptures and the Spirit.
(19) - Some would thing they receive rewards for their faithfulness now. God can reward us in this world for our faithfulness, but our focus shouldn’t be on the here and now. Our focus should be on God.
Matthew 19:27 “Then answered Peter and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore?”
Christ said AFTER A LONG TIME the master is gonna settle everything.
(21) Saved people have a tendency to want to do “big things” without doing the little things first. If you want the Lord to give you more, be faithful with what you know and what you have, and he’ll give you more!
Faithfulness isn’t predicated on how much have, but what you do with what you have!
(vs.24-25) Faithfulness isn’t predicated on what you know, but acting on what you know. You can rightly divide Scripture, memorize Scripture, and have all your ducks in a row with intelligence and knowledge, but it means absolutely nothing if you don’t act on it.

A Firm Foundation (vs.3-4)

Luke 6:46-49,
Matthews gospel, Christ compares the wise man and the foolish man.
Both heard the word of God. One performed it, the other one didn’t. Without performing and working out God’s word, you have absolutely no foundation and when hard times come, you’ll fall.
James 1:22–24 “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.”
2 Peter 1:10 “Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:”

A Firm Finishing (vs.5-6)

We are the temple of God. We are to let God work on us because our house needs continual maintenance, repairs, clean up, and examination until we die.
Acts 20:17-24,
(17) Family - church
(19) Faithfulness - serve the Lord with humility, tears, temptations
Served not just the Lord, but others. (Kept nothing that was profitable unto you)
(22-24) Foundation - but none of these things move me.
(24b) Finishing - count my life dear to myself (As far as Paul was concerned, Paul was dead. He was a dead man walkin’)
Galatians 2:20 “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”
“There was a day when I died, utterly died, died to George Muller, his opinions, preferences, tastes and will, died to the world, its approval or censure, died to the approval or blame even of my brethren and friends, and since then I have studied only to show myself approved unto God.“ - George Muller
“finish my course with joy”
2 Timothy 4:6–8 “For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”
