Nahum’s name means “to comfort, or console”. He wrote during the time of the Empire of Assyria. About 100 years after Jonah warned Nineveh. The rest of the story.

There is comfort for God’s people in knowing that the Lord will judge the wicked.

The Attack against Nineveh.
Verse 6, there was a flood that washed out the walls of Nineveh and exposed it to attack. It was situated on the bank of the Tigris river and another river ran through the midst of it. There is an account of a flood causing damage to the walls.
It’s walls were 7.5 miles long and 140 feet thick in places.
God judges the wicked empires of the world. He brings joy to His people through justice.
