Central Idea: True peace comes not from worldly solutions but from the promises of Christ; those who are in Christ have no reason to live in fear or despair.
INTRODUCTION
In a world filled with chaos, uncertainty, and trials, it’s easy to become overwhelmed.
As followers of Christ, members of His one body (Ephesians 4:4), we must trust in the peace Jesus gives, not the temporary comforts the world offers.
Let us examine what it truly means to “let not your hearts be troubled.”
OBJECTIVES
What Christ's Peace Is Not
A Troubled Heart Results from Misplaced Trust
Christ’s Peace Empowers Us to Face Life Boldly
1. What Christ's Peace Is Not
1. What Christ's Peace Is Not
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
World's Peace is Conditional: It's often based on the absence of conflict, material prosperity, or favorable circumstances. When those conditions change, the peace diminishes.
A vacation brings temporary peace, but the stresses return upon reentry to daily life.
Christ's Peace is Internal and Enduring: It's a state of being, a tranquility of soul, regardless of external circumstances. It's a spiritual gift.
do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Application: The peace Christ gives is rooted in reconciliation with God. God’s Word teaches that peace begins through obedience to the gospel—faith, repentance, confession, baptism (Acts 2:38)—which brings one into Christ, where true peace dwells

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
Application: Many are troubled because they lean on worldly wisdom or their own strength. We must return for Scripture (2 Timothy 3:16–17) for all doctrine and assurance. Trust must be rooted in God's Word.

Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?”
“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?
Application: We are not promised a life without trials, but we are promised strength, hope, and presence through them (Romans 8:35–39). Every true Christian should stand on the confidence of Christ’s resurrection and the hope of eternal life (Titus 1:2). This gives us courage to endure.
CONCLUSION
Jesus knew His disciples would face fear and uncertainty, yet He offered them peace—His peace.
That offer remains today for those who are in Him.
If you are troubled, turn to the source of true peace.
If you are outside of Christ, now is the time to obey the gospel.
