Connecting with God: The Lord’s Prayer Pt. 1

Romans 12:5 ESV
so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.
I. IT’S LIKE BEING BUILT INTO A BUILDING
Ephesians 2:22 ESV
In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.
IN BUILDINGS, A DISCONNECTED FRAME HAS NO SUPPORT
II. IT’S LIKE BEING JOINED TO A BODY
Ephesians 4:25 ESV
Therefore, having put away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor, for we are members one of another.
Romans 12:4–5 LBP
Just as there are many parts to our bodies, so it is with Christ’s body. We are all parts of it, and it takes every one of us to make it complete, for we each have different work to do. So we belong to each other, and each needs all the others.
Colossians 2:19 NLT
and they are not connected to Christ, the head of the body. For he holds the whole body together with its joints and ligaments, and it grows as God nourishes it.
IN A BODY, A DISCONNECTED PART DIES
III. IT’S LIKE BEING ATTACHED TO A VINE
John 15:4 GW
Live in me, and I will live in you. A branch cannot produce any fruit by itself. It has to stay attached to the vine. In the same way, you cannot produce fruit unless you live in me.
Romans 8:16 NLT
For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children.
ON PLANTS, A DISCONNECTED BRANCH CANNOT BEAR FRUIT
IV. IT’S LIKE BEING BORN INTO A FAMILY
1 Timothy 3:15 GW
in case I’m delayed. I want you to know how people who are members of God’s family must live. God’s family is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth.
Romans 15:6–7 NCV
Then you will all be joined together, and you will give glory to God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Christ accepted you, so you should accept each other, which will bring glory to God.
IN A FAMILY, A DISCONNECTED MEMBERS FEELS UNLOVED
1 Corinthians 1:10 NCV
I beg you, brothers and sisters, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ that all of you agree with each other and not be split into groups. I beg that you be completely joined together by having the same kind of thinking and the same purpose.
