Título: ¡El poder de un espíritu recto!
Title: The Power of a Right Spirit!
Subtitle: Are you the man?
Subtítulo: ¿Eres el hombre?
En este capítulo cincuenta y uno del Salmo, David escribe sobre los acontecimientos que leemos en 2 Samuel 11-12.
This fifty first chapter of Psalms, David is writing about the events we read about in 2 Samuel 11-12.
Esto es quizás lo peor que hizo David.
This is perhaps the worst thing that David did.
¡No tengo ninguna duda de que David se arrepentiría de estos momentos por el resto de su vida!
I have no doubt that David would regret these moments for the rest of his life!
En estos capítulos él diría:
In these chapters he would
cometer adulterio - commit adultery
Intenta ocultarlo - try to hide it
y luego matar al marido de la mujer con la que tuvo la aventura - and then kill the husband of the woman he had the affair with
after a little time (but not to much) David marries the woman and the child is born
everything seems to be OK
their sins are hidden, no one knows BUT GOD!
A prophet by the name of Nathan appears with a story to tell
This was the moment of truth for David.
King Saul had not passed this test and lost the kingdom
This is the moment that every person faces - the moment of truth…
How will you respond when you are face to face with the reality of who you are and what you have done!
Most people blame others, make excuses and refuse to accept responsibility.
The natural response is to reject correction, assume you know better…
NOT DAVID!
As soon as the prophet pointed at him and said “You are the man!”.
David fell on his face and repented!
The power of having the right spirit is it always leads to repentance!
If you can repent everything will be ok!
Watch Davids prayer in Psalms 51
Have mercy on me Oh God because of your love for me!
The greatest thing to know about God is he loves us!
In our sin! He loves us!
Romanos 5:6 Mas Dios muestra su amor para con nosotros, en que siendo aún pecadores, Cristo murió por nosotros.
Romans 5:6 KJV 1900
6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
I admit my sins! I have sinned against you! Wash me because I am dirty, cleanse me of my sins!
Because I was born in sin, and grew in iniquity!
GOD, YOU WANT TRUTH IN MY HEART, FROM IT WILL COME WISDOM NOT TO SIN!
He would go on to say:
Purge me with hyssop, wash me so I can be as clean as new snow!
Don’t throw me away!
Create in me a clean heart and a right spirit!
Restore to me the joy of your spirit!
There is great power in simply having a right spirit!
Look at David’s story!
God’s judgement on him:
Sword will never depart from your house
I will raise up evil against you from your own house
I will give your wives and children to another
I will expose you for everyone to see
David fell on his face and repented! NEXT SENTENCE!
The Lord shall put away your sin and you will not die!
There are consequences (you reap what you sow).
Why? David had a right spirit!
When he messed up, he was quick to repent!
The secrete to serving God is NOT being perfect, it is having a right spirit!
It is being able to repent!
Conclusion: Here is the amazing thing about David…
All his sins:
lied and cheated
abused his power
had many wives which the law has warned against in Deuteronomy 17.17
failure as a father
arrogant in prideful
committed adultery
he was a murderer
BUT Acts13.22
Acts 13:22 KJV 1900
22 And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.
David el orgulloso - David the proud
David the failure
David the adulterer
David the murderer
DAVID THE MAN AFTER GOD’S OWN HEART!!
Why was he a man with God’s heart?
He had a right spirit!
