Life For a Life
Life For a Life
John 3:16–17 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. “For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.”
Romans 10:9–13 “that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes in Him will not be disappointed.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him; for “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
For God
1. For God loved the world (v. 16)
The word “loved” is the word ἀγαπάω, agapao, which means “to have love for someone or something, based on sincere appreciation and high regard—‘to love, to regard with affection, loving concern.”
Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
1 John 4:10 “In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.”
Revelation 1:5 “and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To Him who loves us and released us from our sins by His blood—”
God delivered to us His Son (God gave His only begotten Son)
Romans 8:32 “He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?”
1 John 4:9 “By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him.”
2. For God Sent His Son to save (v. 17)
Christ came to be our rescuer
Christ came to be our freedom
Christ came to bridge the gap for us, so we are back with the Father
Christ came so that the world might be saved, and seen through Him (He is our protector)
Because of God
3. We all have the freedom to be saved
For you and I to be saved, we must confess
Matthew 10:32 “Therefore everyone who confesses Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father who is in heaven.”
Romans 14:9 “For to this end Christ died and lived again, that He might be Lord both of the dead and of the living.”
Philippians 2:11 “and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
With a believer's heart, we receive righteousness
With a confessing mouth, we receive salvation
Because of God
4. We have God’s word
God’s word will unite believers and will not put us to shame
Isaiah 28:16 “Therefore thus says the Lord God, “Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a tested stone, A costly cornerstone for the foundation, firmly placed. He who believes in it will not be disturbed.”
Paul even shares this verse in Romans 9:33 “just as it is written, “Behold, I lay in Zion a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense, And he who believes in Him will not be disappointed.””
Because of God
5. We worship God together
Romans 3:22 “even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe; for there is no distinction;”
Those who call upon the name of the Lord will be saved. Saved from the wretched body, saved from the wretched world, and saved from that which is not of God.
Giving your life to Jesus will be the best thing that has ever happened to you. He will change the entire course of your life and make a path in His name for you to journey.
Do you know Jesus as your Lord and Savior? (ALTAR CALL)
