This is all about you Jesus:
Communion:
1 Corinthians 11:27–32 NKJV
Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep. For if we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged. But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world.
1 Corinthians 11:23–26 NKJV
23 For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; 24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” 25 In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” 26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.
We live to Know Him and make Him known

Excellence
Give Your Best
● We owe God nothing less than our best. Every task and opportunity we are given we steward with excellence and do it unto the Lord.
Colossians 3:23 NKJV
23 And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men,
Ephesians 6:6–7 NKJV
6 not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, 7 with goodwill doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men,
When you’re working as a Christian your not working for a boss or a company you’re Working for God
Excellence is an expression of God’s character
Isaiah 28:29 NKJV
29 This also comes from the Lord of hosts, Who is wonderful in counsel and excellent in guidance.
Whenever God commanded people to build things he always gave them detailed instructions
The temple was excellent
“Heartily”: The reason Christians can perform their tasks from their hearts, even when serving ungodly people, is because the service is performed for their heavenly master, Christ, and not just their human masters.
Much like the pursuit of holiness
Excellence is a mindset
I don’t like that guy, too bad
I don’t like my boss so i’m not going to work hard
Stop looking at right now and look at what you’re planting for the future
It’s not a feeling-you might not be in a place that feels excellent
But you can start it
It’s a posture
Many leaders were in less than ideal situations:
Serving under bad leadership
In Slavery
In Jail
On the cusp of genocide
You might not
You see it in our world that excellence is part time for people
Or it’s situational
Or environmental
Wing Stop vs. Chick Filet
The opposite of excellence is mediocre
Mediocre- comes from the latin compound word- Medius which means have or middle
Ocris- rugged mountain
If you’re a Christians your a leader
We’re not halfway people
We set the tone
1. Excellence is a commitment, not a decision
You don’t decide to be excellent in one area of your life and not in another
It’s a commitment not something that’s decided as it comes
There’s is only one person in the Bible that is said to having a spirit of excellence
He’s one of the most influential characters of the Old testament
Daniel 5:12 NKJV
12 Inasmuch as an excellent spirit, knowledge, understanding, interpreting dreams, solving riddles, and explaining enigmas were found in this Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar, now let Daniel be called, and he will give the interpretation.”
We can’t require excellence out of others if we don’t have a spirit of excellence
Excellence can’t be a part time practice
When you keep cutting corners what are you left with?
A circle
A cyclical behavior or poor quality
I heard a story about a builder
We’re not going to be a half an inch off
I’m literally having him build a shop for me now because I love that mentality
Excellence has a feeling
Going to certain restaurants or stores
2. Excellence is committed to integrity:
Daniel 1:8–9 NKJV
8 But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself. 9 Now God had brought Daniel into the favor and goodwill of the chief of the eunuchs.
I believe the way you do anything is the way you do everything
If you compromise in the small things you’ll compromise in everything else
Your business is usually a direct reflection of your personal life
Leadership is just as much a spirit that caught as it is taught
Integrity is leading from the front, not driving from the back
We set the tone as christians
I don’t encourage my church to pray if I don’t lead them in praying on my own
I don’t encourage my church to be generous or tithe unless I’m leading the charge
There might be people who give more money in total than me but I am to be the most generous person I know
You can’t lead unless your out front
Integrity is what keeps you long term
3. Excellence is committed to being Faithful:
Daniel was faithful to God even under bad leadership
Daniel served under 3 pagan kings and a Jewish prime minister
Daniel served under corrupt immoral kings and still committed to being faithful in His word
Daniel was a teenager taken captive by Nebuchadnezzar during the first siege of Jerusalem in 605 B.C.
He was of royal blood. While in captivity, without the slightest compromise, he faithfully served under the administration
No matter what position you have or who your boss is, you can be faithful to God
Colossians 3:23 NKJV
23 And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men,
4. Excellence takes ownership:
Stewardship is broken down to two categories:
Owners and renters
Owners think differently than renters
Renters are thinking what’s next, while owners are thinking how can I improve here?
Picking up trash, cleaning bathrooms
When you’re an owner, you can have the miss-conception that everyone sees things the same way you do
Ownership = influence
Do we take ownership and responsibility of the church
Excellence creates opportunity opportunity creates influence
There’s a few parables in the bible that talk about faithfulness
Rich man goes away and leave his servants with talents 1,2,5
Jesus was saying even if your talents are someone else’s treat them as their yours
5. Excellence creates promotion:
3 Keys to promotion in the Parable of the Talents:
Luke 16
Faithful in that which is least
Faithful with your money (you want to watch your business prosper tithe off every dollar you make to your church)
Genesis 26 you can sow in a famine and reap in the same year
we don’t operate in the world economy!
Faithful with what’s another man’s
When you are working for someone else you are still working for the Lord
If you’re a business owner, take ownership of you church
If you’re working for someone else take ownership and watch how God promotes you
I’ve seen people sand bag or just do have effort while working for someone else cause they anticipate going to a different company or starting their own
And they don’t realize their sowing terrible seeds for their future
A piece of advice to young people in here:
My dad told me this, “if your making 10 dollars an hour and you work like your making 20 bucks an hour, eventually someone will pay you 20 bucks an hour.”
My first Job out of college in the oil field
Even if you’re job isn’t high paying be faithful and thankful and God will promote you
6. Excellence is committed to prayer
If you want to be successful in business
In marriage
With your kids
With your life
You have to be committed to prayer
Daniel 9:3 NKJV
3 Then I set my face toward the Lord God to make request by prayer and supplications, with fasting, sackcloth, and ashes.
Daniel 6:10 NKJV
10 Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went home. And in his upper room, with his windows open toward Jerusalem, he knelt down on his knees three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as was his custom since early days.
6. Excellence glorifies God
Matthew 5:16 NKJV
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
Gives Glory back to God!
Daniel 2:19–22 NKJV
19 Then the secret was revealed to Daniel in a night vision. So Daniel blessed the God of heaven. 20 Daniel answered and said: “Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, For wisdom and might are His. 21 And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise And knowledge to those who have understanding. 22 He reveals deep and secret things; He knows what is in the darkness, And light dwells with Him.
An excellent Spirit brings glory to the Father
Hebrews 8:6 NKJV
6 But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises.
John 3:16 NKJV
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
Romans 10:13 NKJV
13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Sinners Prayer:
Father God, I give you my life
I give you my heart, I give you my all
I repent today for my past
I thank you my sins are forgiven
I believe in Jesus and that he died on the cross and rose again
I make you the Lord and Savior of my life
I love you God
In Jesus name amen
