Today we look at God’s guidance. And as Jesus teaches us to pray he models a prayer for God’s guidence.
Need for Guidance
Guidance is essential in many ways. As someone who is still relitavley new to Adelaide I rely heavily on the GPS in the car for guidance.
I’d love to tell you a funny story about ending up in Happy Valley rather than Hope valley or Morphetville rather than Morphet Vale. But alas I knew my weakness and planned ahead and when we moved here I installed an stereo with Apple Car Play in our car so that we had easliy accessable guidance.
And you know what, in our spiritaul life, our journey of disciplship we also have easily accessable guidance.
Infact when Jesus taught us to pray in the lords prayer it included a petetion around the Father’s guidence. So our regular practice of prayer
2. Let us not succumb to testing
Matthew 26:41 NIV
“Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
4. Proactive Pursuit of Righteousness
3. Walking in the Spirit
Psalm 25:5 — “Lead me in Your truth and teach me.”
5. Practical Application
Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."
Trust
Lean not on your own understanding
Submit to him
Stright - Saftey and righteousness
Practical Application: Ask God for guidance in specific areas of your life. You might say, “Lord, show me how to be a better spouse/parent/friend. Guide my steps in this situation.”
“the Emmaus road story is pre-eminently a model of prayer... in fewer than 20 verses the lord communicates in at least five different ways.  Firstly conversationally, was they talked; discussed these things with each other.  Secondly exegetically, when he explained all the scriptures concerning himself.  Thirdly sacramentally, when he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and gave it to them.   Fourthly prophetically, when their eyes were opened. And fifthly inwardly, when he spoke directly to their hearts and their hearts were burning as he talked.”
