I have never won an inch of the way to heaven without fighting for it.
Charles Spurgeon
Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
Imagine a child watching a magician perform. As the magician's assistant, the child sees the tricks up close. Despite knowing the secrets, the audience remains captivated, believing the performance is real. Similarly, we may face doubts in our faith, but when we focus on the promises of God, we can stand firm amidst skepticism. Just like that child, we are to hold tight to our faith, knowing the truth behind the magical illusions of the world.
In 1 Corinthians 15:58, Paul encourages us to stand firm in our faith. Picture the early church enduring persecution, yet they gathered in houses, sharing their beliefs without fear. Despite threats and imprisonment, they remained steadfast, not allowing external pressures to shake their foundation. Their commitment ignited a movement that changed the world. Their example shows us the importance of being unwavering in our faith, no matter the challenges we face in our lives today.
He who stands firm to the end will be saved’ (Mark 13:13), not because salvation is the reward of endurance, but because endurance is the hallmark of the saved.
John Robert Walmsley Stott (English Preacher)
