Silence Rebellious People
Elders outlined - teach truth and oppose false teaching - know the truth to call out false
Elders are to deal with rebellious people
great danger of false teachers leading people away
false prophet -often think of falsely predicting something but rather leading to self glorification
unruly, disobedient, unsubdued
Circumcision party - jews forcing gentile converts to be circumcised
mingling Judaism and Christianity
households - churches were in the household - one deceived, whole household church upset / subverted
how - mouths stopped - muzzle - how?
confutation - showing error
dishonest gain - circumcision, gain?
Rebuke Cretans - the Cretans
Silence the teachers, rebuke those taught by them.
Sharply - not gentle
parenting - look, stern phrase, rebuke
history - Epimenides said this - himself a cretan - paradox
myth philosophy and religion blend, mystical powers and a prophet
Purpose of rebuke is to bring them back to sound faith
Pure / Corrupted - words align with actions
internal purity versus external - internally pure, then external decisions will be pure
externally corrupted - actions also corrupted
theoretical knowledge of God without practical knowledge
