Transcript
Happy Father’s Day to everyone well not everyone just you Dads out there. Moms you had your day now its time for us dads to relish in the lime light put our feet up and be waited on hand and foot. Have a skit set up with dads being treated lavishly?
I kid I kid in all seriousness now Happy fathers day Thank you guys you can head back down .
I feel like as i prepped for this and watched some other guys sermons that they do on Fathers day they all started out the same way. It was children, ladies, men who aren't fathers yet this is for you too you can apply this to your life as well and then they went on into their sermon. So I thought I should start out the same way. So, Children, Ladies, Men who aren't fathers yet This sermon can apply to you… No that's all wrong my sermon today is directed at the fathers, But Ladies that doesn’t mean you can tune me out because you have a special role in your husbands life you have been called to be his helper in all areas. Genesis 2:18 “Then the Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.””
So Ladies here is why i need you to not fall asleep or tune me out lets read the definition of a helper according to the bibles terms
Helper: a person who contributes to the fulfillment of a need or furtherance of an effort or purpose.
So Ladies you are the one who completes your husband you Contribute to him being the best father he can be. you further his effort and purpose for being here on earth. And if you don't know what a good father should be then how can you help him so ladies please stick with me and further your husbands efforts to be a Godly father because he can’t do it without you.

Lets Jump in and read from our bible

Please stand with me as we read from
Colossians 3:19–21 “Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them.
Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.
Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged.”
When we look at this section of versus in the bible its all laid out as under a heading of Rules or instructions for Christian households and the first 4 are given their own sentences or lines and then it goes on in traditional format for the rest of it. You may notice i skipped the first one has we aren't focusing on what the ladies need to do its just us men.
so the first command husbands love your wives and do not be harsh with them. Guilty!!! how can i be Godly Dad when i am harsh to my wife the one God made for me. We have to reconcile that relationship first. So any dads out there if you are harsh to your wife or have been harsh to her in the past and you havent reconciled that with her and allowed God to bring forgiveness into your relationship please after this message go and make that the first thing you do.
Second command Children obey your parents in everything for this pleases the Lord. This word Parents in greek is goneus (go ness) and its use in the NT refers to Jesus’ earthly parents or the parents of the blind man. So we know this term here is refering to both mom and dad.
Now we get to the main verse I want to focus on FATHERS, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged.
There are three parts to this verse the address, Fathers that's us and only us because if they wanted to include mom in this we know they would have by the previous verse.
