1. Cheerful Giving Demonstrates Faith
Hello everyone! :)
I’ve prepared something short to share!
2 Corinthians 9:7 “You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.””
How many of you have heard this verse before? Or rather, how many times have you guys heard this verse before? Probably many!
I think we can all agree that the principle we learnt from this verse is to… Give cheerfully and not relunctantly. Amen?
But actually.. there is a more powerful principle we can learn here and we can uncover it when we understand the context of this verse..
With the help of logos.. I found out that the church of corinth at that time was a church that was experiencing strive, their people were divided and people were sinning.. people were misguided, and just overall having a hard time..
Paul was trying to bring the church together, to lead them back to God, back to God’s purpose, and to love one another again.
2 Corinthians 9:6–7 “Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.””
I believe there are 2 principles we can learn here..
#1 Paul was not just teaching the church of corinth to give happily.. But he was teaching them the principle of sowing and reaping..
The less we sow, the less we will reap! The more we sow, the more we will reap!
This bibical principle really applies to whole christian walk!
Maybe we have something in our heart that we have been asking God for.. God, where is my blessing? Where is my miracle? Where is my dream job, where is my dream girlfriend or boyfriend? Where is my calling and where is my destiny?
Maybe God is asking us.. where are your seeds? What are you planting in your lives?
Have we been planting seeds of faith? Seeds of hardwork? Seeds of spiritual hunger? Or are our seeds all in our pockets because we are for that good season to come..
Maybe some of us we need to do abit more sowing in the area of our lives we have a desire for God to move in.
#2 Giving Cheerfully requires faith. Faith moves the hand of God.
When we do sow our seeds.. Why do we need to sow cheerfully? Because Giving cheerfully requires faith..
And when we have faith.. Our faith moves the hand of God..
And so Paul was teaching the church of corinth and today, the church of CM7 when we sow the seeds of what we want to reap in our lives cheerfully and in faith… It will move the hand of God in our lives..
And so in today’s offering.. Lets not just give our offering routinely.. But I pray that it will be the first of the many seeds we are going to sow in our lives.
