In the Beginning
In the Beginning
Before time existed God was. God is eternal. This means He has no beginning or no end. Beginning in this context relates to the creation of the heavens and the earth. It is an indication of time. Before the creation there was no such thing as time. God existed before time!
This demonstrates that God does not need creation, He desired it , so He created it. He created the heaven’s and the earth to show his sovereignty, majesty and glory.
Sovereignty
Sovereignty
God is sovereign. This means He has supreme power and authority. Only God can create something out of nothing. We will see in a little bit how God just spoke something and it was created. Man cannot do this. Everything that man creates he creates from something that already exists. Tell story of scientist telling God that he can create man just like God.
Since God created all things, all things belong to Him. He owns everything. This means that we own nothing. He makes us stewards of what He owns, but all things belong to Him. Even our own lives
just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him. In love He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will,
Though we did not exist physically God knew us personally. In His sovereignty He is omniscient. He knows everything. Psalms 139:16
Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; And in Your book were all written The days that were ordained for me, When as yet there was not one of them.
God knew us and ordained our days before we were created physically. He knows us perfectly!
Majesty
Majesty
God’s creation declares His majesty. Majesty is God’s impressive dignity and Beauty.
“Who is like You among the gods, O Lord? Who is like You, majestic in holiness, Awesome in praises, working wonders?
Moses writes that there is no one more majestic than the Lord
O Lord, our Lord, How majestic is Your name in all the earth,
Who have displayed Your splendor above the heavens!
David speaks that God’s majesty is greater than any.
