Jesus replied, “Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and yet you still don’t know who I am? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father! So why are you asking me to show him to you? Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words I speak are not my own, but my Father who lives in me does his work through me.
And you know that God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Then Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.

There is a teaching on sickness that has been going around that has left some christians who are in need of healing to say, “Maybe God put this sickness or infirmity on me for a purpose?”

Did Jesus ever put an infirmity on anyone?
When people in need came to Him for healing, did Jesus ever turn anyone away and say “No, it’s not my Will. just go and suffer a little longer.”
No Jesus never did this once
And Scriptures tell us that Jesus came and revealed the God to us:
No one has ever seen God. But the unique One, who is himself God, is near to the Father’s heart. He has revealed God to us.
Jesus Said in John 14:9-10

Jesus is the will of God in action John 6:38
For I have come down from heaven to do the will of God who sent me, not to do my own will.
Did Jesus Go around making people sick?
No, He went about doing good and healing
And you know that God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Then Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.
The Fall

From the Natural Standpoint:
It is hard for people to understand that most of the laws governing this earth today came through the fall of man in Gen 3- When Adam sinned and the curse came upon the earth.
it is because people don’t understand this that they:
Accuse God of accidents
accuse God os sickness
accuse God of the death of loved ones
accuse God for the evil and wrong in the world
God is not the author of these things-
Jesus said John 10:10
The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.
People blame God for storms, catastrophes, earthquakes, tornado’s, floods that occur and bring devastation
Even insurance policies have a section called “Acts of God”.
These aren’t acts of God, they are the acts of the devil
There author is satan
Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.
Satan the God of this age
All natural laws as we understand them, were set aside by Jesus, in order to bring blessing to humanity.
Jesus came to interject this life with Abundant life-
with blessing not curse
Jesus said in John 14:9 “if you have seen me you have seen the Father.”
Jesus never brought storms or sickness to anyone’s life
He only calmed storms and healed diseases

As evening came, Jesus said to his disciples, “Let’s cross to the other side of the lake.” So they took Jesus in the boat and started out, leaving the crowds behind (although other boats followed). But soon a fierce storm came up. High waves were breaking into the boat, and it began to fill with water.
Jesus was sleeping at the back of the boat with his head on a cushion. The disciples woke him up, shouting, “Teacher, don’t you care that we’re going to drown?”
When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Silence! Be still!” Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm. Then he asked them, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
The disciples were absolutely terrified. “Who is this man?” they asked each other. “Even the wind and waves obey him!”
The disciples ask “Don’t you care that we’re going to drown?” But Jesus arose and rebuked the wind.
Was Jesus rebuking something God had done?
He was rebuking something that the devil had stirred up
God made the World and everything in it
The heavens are yours, and the earth is yours;
everything in the world is yours—you created it all.
After God created the world He made Adam and gave Him authority of it. Dominion belonged to Adam originally
Gen 1:26-27 - Dominion “Rule Over”
Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground.”
So God created human beings in his own image.
In the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.
Gen 2:15 - to keep it- “Watch over”
The Lord God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to tend and watch over it.
When Adam sinned Satan became the God of this world- dominion was transferred from man to satan, and that is when the curse of sin fell on the earth
Before sin man had dominion and there were no
tornado’s
floods
sickness
death
pain
depression
Adam’s sin was high treason towards God, and selling out to satan, and this is why satan is now the god of this age 2 Cor 4:4
Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.
When did satan become the god of this world?
When Adam sinned.

We need to make things clear because there is a lot of confusion in the church world:
People have all kinds of of unscriptural ideas
Some People Think “Well, God’s got everything under.”
This statement depends may be or may not be true depending on
If you mean that God is control the world and everything happen right now then you are wrong
Once you were dead because of your disobedience and your many sins. You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil—the commander of the powers in the unseen world. He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God. All of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations of our sinful nature. By our very nature we were subject to God’s anger, just like everyone else.
Even the Anti-christ rules at one point over the earth
God right now is not ruling over the earth, but He is going to rule it again
One day every knee will bow
For the Scriptures say,
“ ‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord,
‘every knee will bend to me,
and every tongue will declare allegiance praise to God.’ ”
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.
The problem of evil-
The problem of evil-
The church has done a good job of showing the world that God is reason for evil and bad things in the world
He is blamed for sickness- some believe that their sickness came from God
God doesn’t dish out cancer
He is blamed for war
God isn’t into the slaughter of men, women, and children
Jesus shows the love of God
All these evils came with the fall when Adam sinned and Satan became the god of this world.
At the end when Satan is eliminated from the earth, there will be no more hurt or destruction, nor will there be anything that can cause these
When Satan is done away with these things go with him into a fiery pit!
Jesus said, “If you have seen me you have seen the Father,” and his life and teaching make it impossible for us to accept the teaching that has plagued many churches, that sickness and disease come from God.
The very nature of God calls BS on this idea, for God is love!
And you know that God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Then Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.
Who was it that anointed Jesus of Nazareth?
God did
And in John 14:10 said “my Father who lives in me does His work through me.”
So how did God do His works of healing?
It was through Jesus, and by anointing Him with the Holy Spirit and healing power
What did Jesus do with the anointing that God had anointed Him with?
He went about doing good
What is the Good that Jesus did?
Healing!
So God was Healing when Jesus healed, because it was God who anointed Him.
God is in the business of healing, and not in the business of making people sick.
God is in the delivering business and not in the bondage business.
Jesus healed all
What does Acts 10:38 say, “healing all who were oppressed by the devil.”
This statement is plain in it s meaning- ALL MEANS ALL
That means everyone who was healed under the ministry of Jesus was oppressed of the devil-
In other words the devil had something to do with the sickness they were experiencing
This doesn’t mean an evil spirit was always present- It just means the devil is behind the whole situation
they were oppressed- everyone of them
Many churches today would have you believe that God and the Devil have swapped jobs for the last 2000 years!
They teach that God is putting sickness on people, and that He knows that is it for your good and it is refining you
people teach that it is teaching you just to trust God
The Devil is the same devil he has always been, and God is still the same God, yesterday, today and forever!
And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone. Anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved. But anyone who refuses to believe will be condemned. These miraculous signs will accompany those who believe: They will cast out demons in my name, and they will speak in new languages. They will be able to handle snakes with safety, and if they drink anything poisonous, it won’t hurt them. They will be able to place their hands on the sick, and they will be healed.”
Which on of the sick people did Jesus tell His followers to lay hands on?
He didn’t pick and choose
HE JUST DAID THE SICK PERIOD
Well if God is the author of sickness and disease , and it is His will for some to be sick, then this statement would be confusing
Who does God want to be sick, I don’t want to lays hands on someone God wants to be sick- that would be going against His will
don’t ask me to pray for you if you are sick cause it might be God’s will that you are sick
This is the byproduct of that type of confusing thinking- and that doesn’t come from Jesus
Jesus authorized us to lay hands on all the sick and said they would recover.
If it were God’s will for some to remain sick., Jesus would have had to say something along the line of, “Lay your hands on those whom it is the will of God to heal, and they shall recover, and those whom it isn’t the will of God to heal, they won’t.
But Jesus didn’t say this- Jesus healed the Sick and God has set the church against sickness!
Are any of you sick? You should call for the elders of the church to come and pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord. Such a prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well. And if you have committed any sins, you will be forgiven.
“Is anyone among you sick?” This is written to the church.
So it must be God’s will to heal the sick in the Church.
Therefore it can’t be the will of God for “any” in the church to stay sick.

Suffering with Jesus- some might quote this verse
If we endure hardship,
we will reign with him.
If we deny him,
he will deny us.
What did Jesus suffer from? What are the Hardships?
Pneumonia?
Cancer?
Measles
No- Jesus suffered persecution, and we will too, if we are living right
Persecution comes from preaching divine healing, the gifts of the Spirit, and faith. Churches that believed this and stayed open during COVID suffered persecution from people who called themselves fellow believers
Sickness is God’s rod of correction
Hebrews 12:6
This verse doesn’t speak of sickness- and to view it that way is to put your own interpretation on it

When you train your child and they mess up, you don’t strike them till they are blind
You don’t give them cancer or tell their teachers at school to cripple them if they mess up so that they will learn their lesson.
You don’t do that and neither does God- John 9 Jesus deals with this thinking
Job’s problems
Another scripture people who doubt healing and faith turn to is the book of Job
People think God made Job sick- THAT ISN’T TRUE
Then they rebuttal “God gave the devil permission”
This statement is 100% true- But there is a difference between permitting and commissioning
If you go and kill someone God will permit it , but God didn’t commission it
What I always feared has happened to me.
What I dreaded has come true.
Job opened the door to the devil by being afraid and housing fear
Bible scholars pretty much agree that Ob’s story took place between nine to eighteen months and in Chapter 42 we get to read How God works
When Job prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his fortunes. In fact, the Lord gave him twice as much as before!
Restored- Literally means turned the captivity
This means that when Job was sick, he was in captivity to the devil.
When He was in poverty - He was in captivity to the devil
But God turned His captivity and gave Him double for His trouble
Job lived 140 years after He got healed and blessed- that was the working of God!
Paul’s Thorn-
What is a thorn in the flesh?
But if you fail to drive out the people who live in the land, those who remain will be like splinters in your eyes and thorns in your sides. They will harass you in the land where you live.
then know for certain that the Lord your God will no longer drive them out of your land. Instead, they will be a snare and a trap to you, a whip for your backs and thorny brambles in your eyes, and you will vanish from this good land the Lord your God has given you.
So now I declare that I will no longer drive out the people living in your land. They will be thorns in your sides, and their gods will be a constant temptation to you.”
Paul tells us exactly what His thorn was- 2 Cor 12:7
even though I have received such wonderful revelations from God. So to keep me from becoming proud, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger from Satan to torment me and keep me from becoming proud.

What happened everywhere Paul preached? He encountered resistance that was spiritual- and evil spirit was there trying to stop gospel
It happens in Phillipi, happens in Ephesus, it happens in Jerusalem
With Satan being the God of the world Paul could cast it out of people, but that didn’t mean he wouldn’t face opposition from the enemy
the anti-chirst is the apex of this
You can’t separate sickness and disease from Satan
Sickness and Disease came with the fall of man
the fall was of the devil
sickness and sin have the same origin- THE DEVIL
Jesus’ attitude toward sickness was uncompromising warfare against Satan
His attitude toward sin and sickness are identical- and that is to take them both out
which was the same way he dealt with demons
Since all these are of the devil- sin, sickness, disease, demons- then we need to have the attitude of Christ towards them
Healing is God’s Provision-
God has always opposed sickness
When He made His covenant He made provision for His people to be healed-
Is sickness was His will , He wouldn’t have made provision for healing
He said, “If you will listen carefully to the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in his sight, obeying his commands and keeping all his decrees, then I will not make you suffer any of the diseases I sent on the Egyptians; for I am the Lord who heals you.”
God says “I am the Lord who heals you.”
Even in this passage sin leads to sickness
It is satan the God of this world, who makes man sick -
God declares I am Jehovah Rapha- The Lord your Healer
“You must serve only the Lord your God. If you do, I will bless you with food and water, and I will protect you from illness. There will be no miscarriages or infertility in your land, and I will give you long, full lives.
As long as Israel walked in the Covenant they would never experience sickness among them
There is no record of premature death, whether young, old, babies- there were none that were taken from them by sickness
When the men of God were getting ready to die they would call their children, lay hands on them, and bless them.
Then they would fall asleep.
God is the same yesterday today and forever!
“I am the Lord, and I do not change. That is why you descendants of Jacob are not already destroyed.
God was agaisnt sin in the Old Testament, and God is agaisnt sin in the New Testament
God is against sickness in the Old Testament and He is against sickness in the New Testament
He provided for their healing in the Old Testament and He Provide for Healing in the New Testament
He will love you and bless you, and he will give you many children. He will give fertility to your land and your animals. When you arrive in the land he swore to give your ancestors, you will have large harvests of grain, new wine, and olive oil, and great herds of cattle, sheep, and goats. You will be blessed above all the nations of the earth. None of your men or women will be childless, and all your livestock will bear young. And the Lord will protect you from all sickness. He will not let you suffer from the terrible diseases you knew in Egypt, but he will inflict them on all your enemies!
It is as if some read an entirely different Bible, because they try to make the Bible fit their lives and experiences verses aligning their lives with the Word
After reading a verse live this they might say “Well that was for back then and not for today.”
“God was speaking to Israel”
But now Jesus, our High Priest, has been given a ministry that is far superior to the old priesthood, for he is the one who mediates for us a far better covenant with God, based on better promises.
These things happened to them as examples for us. They were written down to warn us who live at the end of the age.
An Example for Us:
Deuteronomy 7:13-15 was written for our benefit- the entire Old Testament was written for our Benefit!
It wasn’t just for Israel- in fact Paul writes that Abraham- the Father of Israel and the Covenant of Blessing is our Father too!
Do we think that People back then were more blessed then the church today?
Do we think that they could be financially and physically blessed, experience healing and prosperity, but the church today Can’t?
Do we think the church must be poverty stricken, sick and afflicted?
We are not beggars!
We are not beggars!
The bible says that we are joint-heirs with Christ, sons of God!
We are not beggars! we are new creatures, blessed and highly favor above all people!
Sickness and disease were not to be tolerated among the Israelites and it shouldn’t be tolerated among the church
EVERYTHING CONNECTED WITH THE BODY OF CHRIST- THE NEW TESTAMENT CHURCH- SHOULD BEAR THE MARK OF PROSPERITY, SUCCESS, HEALING, SURPLUS, AND HEALTH.
For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile.
Dr. Scofield (Greek and Hebrews scholar) in his notes writes “The Greek and Hebrew words translated salvation imply the ideas of deliverance, safety, preservation, healing, and health.”

God was and is always His people’s healer
Let all that I am praise the Lord;
with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name.
Let all that I am praise the Lord;
may I never forget the good things he does for me.
He forgives all my sins
and heals all my diseases.
He redeems me from death
and crowns me with love and tender mercies.
He fills my life with good things.
My youth is renewed like the eagle’s!
Disease came to Israel through disobedience- so forgiveness from their sins meant healing of their disease
Some were fools; they rebelled
and suffered for their sins.
They couldn’t stand the thought of food,
and they were knocking on death’s door.
“Lord, help!” they cried in their trouble,
and he saved them from their distress.
He sent out his word and healed them,
snatching them from the door of death.
when they sinned they left the covering of God and entered into the world who’s god is satan
They left the protection of the covering of the covenant of God
God’s will is that we be healed- How do I know? BECAUSE HEALING IS PROVIDED FOR US UNDER THE NEW COVENANT!
