John 14:6 NIV
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
T he Good News is that God sent his one and only Son, Jesus the Messiah, to save us. Jesus became one of us, taught us how to live, and then…
Jesus is fully man and fully God
The only way to the Father is through Jesus
• He died on the cross for our sins. He was buried.
• He rose on the third day, according to the Scriptures, and appeared to many witnesses.
• He ascended into heaven and sent the Holy Spirit.
• Jesus has been enthroned as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
• He is coming back to judge the living and the dead.
These are beliefs that we cannot disagree on. These are blood bought beliefs
Secondary beliefs. These are beliefs that do not effect your salvation. Then teritary beliefs which are personal beliefs.
The main part of the denomation has strayed away from the primary beliefs of following Jesus. The church of the Brethren started in 1708. It has been around for 317 years and we are currently in the midst of the largest breakup in the history of the denomanation because the leadership has failed to teach the Word of God.
There is one truth worth knowing in the this world and that is the truth of God.
Deuteronomy 4:2 NIV
Do not add to what I command you and do not subtract from it, but keep the commands of the Lord your God that I give you.
This is the time for us to take a stand and continue to preach the Word of God. In a world full of mis-information people are searching for the truth. This is a place where you can find the truth of God, where you can grow your faith and you can ask tough questions.
James 1:22–25 NIV
Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.
This is what I am calling functional theology. We do not want to put beliefs on a website and it is not what we practice. We want to live out the teachings of Jesus. We want to be doers of the Word. Part of that is recoginizing when there is false teachings in the world specifically false teachings that we are afflicted with. Following Jesus is the most serious thing that we can undertake. We are taking about eternity. We are talking about the forgiveness of sins. We are talking about following the Lord. In the early years of the church, the leaders would come together to root out false teachings. Those days are gone, it is now up to us to do that. It is up to each one of us make stand upon the firm foundation of the Lord of God.
