David Regrets his lies

David last fled to a priest named Ahimelech and he lied to him about his business and why he was alone, He told the priest he was not to tell anyone about his business by the King. The priest was concerned because a man of Davids rank wouldn’t have been seen traveling alone with no men an no weapon.

David gets Goliaths sword there and flees to Gath a Philistine city.. and David gets recognized pretty quickly by the servants of King Achish’s servants. David began acting like a mad man and they decided to let David go because they had no use of him.

Verse 1, David then flees to a cave called Adullam which means “Refuge”

You can actually read in Psalms 57 where David describes the Lord strengthening him in the cave and preparing him.

Verse 2 , This is an interesting parallel here we see many people coming to David in this cave and even his brothers and his father came. God knew what David needed and he began to provide the people to come and support and serve David. But what is interesting is the type of people who came to David where the people who where in distress and in debt. I thought of the people who come to Jesus and its those who are spiritually bankrupt and broken hearted. We see this revealing of Gods character and its the same idea that the lost and broken people come to the Father to seek refuge.

God sent David an army.

Verse 6-8 Saul calls David by the humblest name a son of Jesse not the man who killed Goliath.

Verse 11-15 , The priest answered Saul honestly and he really didnt know of David and Sauls conflict.
