Gods Word is Our Foundation

Focus: The Bible is holy and true. If we use it as our foundation, it will guide us and change our lives.

God’s Word is true and trustworthy because it comes from God. It’s the solid foundation we need to build our lives on.

🕘 Lesson Flow (30 Minutes)

🔹 1. Welcome & Icebreaker (3 min)

Ask: “If you could only bring one thing to a deserted island, what would it be?” ➡ Transition: “What if I told you that the one thing we all need in life—wherever we are—is the Bible?”

🔹 2. Lesson Introduction: What is a Foundation? (6 min)

Object Lesson: Place a small object or cup on a soft pillow vs. a sturdy block.

“Which one is solid?” “Which one falls apart?” ➡ A good foundation holds you up when life gets shaky.

Matthew 7:24–27 NKJV

24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. 26 “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: 27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. Jesus said a wise person builds their life on His words—like a house on a rock.

A foolish person builds on sand—shaky things like feelings or fame.

When the storms (trials) come, only the house on the rock stands.

Ask:

“What are some storms we face?”

“What would it look like to build your life on Jesus and His Word?”

Jesus is the Word—He was with God and was God.

He came to live with us, showing us God’s truth in person.

When we read the Bible, we’re not just reading words—we’re learning about Jesus.

Ask:

“What does it look like to build your life on the Bible?”

“What should we do with what we learn?”

📖 Use G.R.O.W. to Build Your Life on God’s Word:

G – Go to church➡ Learn and grow with other believers. R – Read the Bible➡ Fill your heart with truth every day. O – Obey God’s Word➡ Do what it says, not just read it. W – Witness to others➡ Share God’s truth with your friends and family!

Ask for examples:

“How can you obey God’s Word this week?”

“Who can you tell about Jesus?”

🔹 6. Group Activity: “Truth or Not?” Game (6–7 min)

Say: “Let’s see how well we know what’s really in the Bible!”

✅ From the Bible:

“Every word of God proves true.” (Proverbs 30:5)

“Jesus wept.” (John 11:35)

“Your word is a lamp to my feet.” (Psalm 119:105)

“Love your neighbor as yourself.” (Mark 12:31)

“All Scripture is breathed out by God.” (2 Timothy 3:16)

“God helps those who help themselves.”

“Follow your heart.”

“Do unto others as they do unto you”

“Cleanliness is next to godliness.”

“Money is the root of all evil.” (Actually: love of money…)

“God won’t give you more than you can handle.” (Not exactly true—God gives strength in trials.)

Ask:

“Why do we need to know what the Bible really says?”

“Can people say things that sound right but aren’t?”

🔹 7. Wrap-Up & Challenge (2 min)

Main Point Review:
