Exodus 14:5-14
Exodus 14:5-14
Theme: Crossing the Red Sea
Key verse: v.29
31 verses; 931 words
Grade level: 8.3
Outline:
I. Israel at the Red Sea. Vs.1–18
II. Israel crosses the Red Sea. Vs.19–31
This is the chapter that is reproduced in books, movies, and plays more than any story in the Bible:
The heroine is there (Israel, Rev. 12:1–6)
The hero is there (Moses, Exod. 12–14)
The threatened wealth (or estate) is there (Exod. 15:17)
The villain is present (Ezek. 32:2)
Unless there is Divine intervention—a twist in the narrative, a turn to the plot, an unexpected deliverance, an unforeseen helper —all is over!
CHANGES of circumstances when the Lord is about to move:
I. The Procession Of The Enemy. vs.5-9
I. The Procession Of The Enemy. vs.5-9
v.5 - How did Pharaoh know where they were? Answer: Exodus 12:38 “And a mixed multitude went up also with them; and flocks, and herds, even very much cattle.”
Question! How in the world could Pharaoh have forgotten his dead son so quickly? Before a week is gone, the King of Egypt has forgotten the frogs, the lice, the flies, the hail, the boils, and the death of the firstborn. He is right back in the same old rut: “Why have we...let Israel go from serving us?” (vs. 5). Sin is madness.
They are not going into the Sinaitic wilderness to worship “Jehovah,” or they would have gone east of Etham and turned down the Peninsula.
Where they are, they are trapped, and I can catch them in 24 hours with a forced march.

Conclusion:
Conclusion:
In spite of Divine deliverance, they are leavened and integrated again, for many in Israel have made a change of residence and leadership without a change of heart.
