MARK 4:35-41, MATTHEW 8:23-27, LUKE 8:22-25

Where does faith come from, and how does it grow. Is it just something that we discover? Faith is a subject which we may never in our life time really understand it fully. I don’t know if anyone to ever live since the life of Jesus could say they know the true depths of faith. But I want to say this to you all, when you receive training for something that you have never faced you must believe that the training your receiving will work just as you see it in the training. This is faith. I have often referred to this in other ways. But today I will say it like this when we read, hear, and visually see something in practice like you train we grow in confidence that it will work, then it becomes second nature. Something we do not think about that just becomes a natural reaction done without thought. The building of our faith should be like this.
Mark 4:35–41 “35 On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, “Let us cross over to the other side.” 36 Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him. 37 And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. 38 But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” 39 Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. 40 But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?” 41 And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!””
Faith
Faith according to
Hebrews 11:1 “1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
As we explore this a little bit deeper we understand that the Author has paid particular attention to this subject so far in the book of Hebrews. In Chapter 2 he states “pay all the more attention to the things we have heard. This is very interesting to me because when we ask where does faith come from we see it here, Attentive hearing is the beginning of faith. One commentator said it like this “faith builds confidence and confidence builds endurance.”
The definition we see used here in scripture is not the universal definition of faith but the author uses it to encourage believers when they find themselves in adverse circumstances. This leads to their hope and knowing that according to scripture There is no doubt a returning King. I see doubt as unbelief. Your in or your out. You can not be Luke warm.
Courage -
1 Samuel 17 “1 Now the Philistines gathered their armies together to battle, and were gathered at Sochoh, which belongs to Judah; they encamped between Sochoh and Azekah, in Ephes Dammim. 2 And Saul and the men of Israel were gathered together, and they encamped in the Valley of Elah, and drew up in battle array against the Philistines. 3 The Philistines stood on a mountain on one side, and Israel stood on a mountain on the other side, with a valley between them. 4 And a champion went out from the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath, from Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span. 5 He had a bronze helmet on his head, and he was armed with a coat of mail, and the weight of the coat was five thousand shekels of bronze. 6 And he had bronze armor on his legs and a bronze javelin between his shoulders. 7 Now the staff of his spear was like a weaver’s beam, and his iron spearhead weighed six hundred shekels; and a shield-bearer went before him. 8 Then he stood and cried out to the armies of…”
Peace
39 Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.
After having been thru the storm we can expect a time of peace. Peace is something that is truly awesome. It is when God gives you time to heal your spiritual battle scares and make preperation for the next encounter. it is just around the corner.
Philippians 4:7 “7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
This type of peace is is something we can no describe.
It is a profound sene of Calm and tranquility that is beyound human comprehension
